The guys on the 717 are FL pilots on the FL pay scale I believe? As far as furloughs goes: as long as FL exists, you guys are exposed 1:1? Once you are on the combined list, the bottom is pure SWA.
I still think the combined airline will be better than the two standing alone.
Long term for most of us here is a "wait and see" attitude but hoping for the best.

717 guys get FL pay until 2015 so no pay "cut" but the lineholders are definitely seeing a smaller pay checks because there is nothing in open time to pick up and premium trips are EXTREMELY rare. Where lineholders were seeing 90-100 hour months they are only getting 76 hours now. This is due to a lot of FL flying being transferred to SWA. It is putting a lot of lineholders in a bad mood though.

1:1 furlough is not the case. It is every person on the AT list followed the most junior SWA guy (the one that was just hired). That is another bitter pill that is viewed by AT folks as nothing but a slap in the face.

In short, the senior guys are mad due to smaller paychecks, and junior guys have the furlough noose dangling around our necks in a bad economy. Forgive us if we do not yet feel part of the team...

Bullpucky . . . . there are 200+ new hire SWA FOs who were hired AFTER the purchase announcement who will get furloughed before any single Airtran FO will get furloughed. (Yes, yes, except for the Airtran FO's hired after the announcement.) Except for the new hire classes of the last few months, all of us sat in the "pool" for well over two years before out class date. Long before the Tranny purchase was announced. You know what, I am still glad to have my job and if that means being on the bottom of a very long list, so what. At that is how I feel.

We will all be long gone before you. Does that make your boo boo feel better.

All kidding aside, truly welcome to Southwest. Personally, I am glad to join our teams together. So far every AirTran FO I have met and talked with in the last several months has been really nice. Great to talk with, great attitude.

There are always the 5%ers. Southwest has them too. However, the **** and moan attitude, however, is not welcome and frankly will not be tolerated.

Really? Are you in charge of the SWA toleration policy? Wow, what presumption.

JD, is your furlough info coming from SWAPA?

The info from this side is that furloughs will stay on either side of the partitition. I cannot imagine a scenario where SWA would furlough before AT. I still contend that what I wrote is true...that I would be furloughed before those currently in training at SWA.

Point of order on the blame game. It was the AirTran MEC that would not allow the membership to vote on SL9 that resulted in the immediate pay raises to SWA scale being taken off the table. Had it passed on the AT side I don't see how Gary could have offered less to AT in the next SL if there had been a No vote on the SWA side. Let's not forget that the 5 years of foot dragging on a new AT contract suddenly ended with significant pay raises once the deal was announced. It was a fast moving game with a lot of moving parts so broad-brush statements about how one group screwed the other really don't paint a fair picture of how things came to be. Not asking anyone to suddenly declare that their sour grape juice is now 30 year old scotch but in the long run a bigger and better SWA works for us all.

Personally, I don't think that he meant to be presumptuous. I think that he was genuinely trying to relay a message. He obviously works at SWA and knows what they like and don't like. He's not saying that he's going to fire anyone or that he will not tolerate it, he's just relaying his experiences on the matter to a newcomer to the company. Tone it down a little buddy.

So are AirTran pilots newhires? Are they on probation? It sure seems like it from the comments on here.

Is the AT/SWA thing still going on?

I thought that once you guys had a seniority list that furloughs had to come in inverse seniority order from that list. Is that not true?

No probation. New to the company....not new hires.

That says a lot... and is why Southwest is the new AA.
