Dream
#11
You know SKY High, I distinctly remember you saying (in one of your many posts) you were very Happy at National or whatever that 757 non sched outfit's name was out of Las Vegas. I said it then and I'll say it now. I am sorry it didn't work out. I am sure most posters here are sorry, because many of us have experienced the downside more than once.
That being said, the dream is still ALIVE for those who choose to Dream.
You obviously have nightmares. And you use this forum as your therapy.
My advice is to Seek professional help.

Sorry
Sorry Redeye you have remembered it wrong. I was not happy at National. My take home pay was around $2000 per month to fly a 757 across the nation. I was miserable there and at Horizon as well. I didn't expect to have lunch with the CEO but at least I thought I would have a better life than a mailman.
I couldn't help but notice that many of you who have replied are still new to the industry. Just wait. In a few years you will begin to get it.
It is common to think that I am in the minority however the statistics and even a few of my adversaries here will tell you otherwise.
I am glad to learn that somewhere there are companies that still value pilots. I never knew any.

$2000 a month flying a 757?
Not since I left flight instruction have I made that little.... but then I dont get to fly a new, big, shiny jet across the country or wear those sexy eppaulettes.
Nope, when I left flight instruction I swore I would never earn crap pay again. I chose to fly solid, if not sexy, aircraft in mundane jobs: the kind where peole ask "don't you want to be a commercial pilot one day?" Nope, not sexy, but I have a house, pay the bills, am home every nights, and only eat mac and cheese when I WANT to eat mac and cheese.
SkyHigh, you made a choice. You chose your path. Don't blame the industry because you were willing to work for starvation wages.

Skyhigh I remember right. You previously said that you left Horizon and landed your "Dream Job.
BTW $2000 a month as a new hire wasn't too bad a few years ago. I made $1200 a month at my first Major Carrier and $1100 at my second Major Job.
