AA, I think this is directly related to the thread topic at hand, as this may cause pilots to retire even quicker or maybe stay and hang out longer.

A takeover attempt will cause the stock to rise also, which probably is beneficial for someone about to retire.

With that said, does this rumor have anything behind it or what do you think

AA Pilot retirement proceeds are unrelated to AMR stock price, so far as I understand.

stock volume has been rather lackluster. any real buyout in the works should trigger an uptick in volume.

Same group that tried to take over QF recently.
That airline would probably not exist if the bid went through. Management was all for bonderman, company labor and the public was up in arms.

i see TPG has taken over Sabre and Midwest Airlines.

TPG member Coulter was involved in CAL takeover.

At least this makes for interesting rumor mongering....

Well, no one likes to lose their jobs, especially the "C" levels or board members... bankruptcy would be the best time or a takeover bid, so if there is traction to the takeover rumor, it may well push the board to fight to stay out of the courts. Hence, stock prices may continue to skid...

Roger that. I saw on another site that TPG took over CAL after CAL filed. I wonder if any back-alley handshake was going on with CAL to get them to file then TPG would step in.

Again, interesting discussion....

Midwest did not do to good with TPG either. TPG involved, watch out for the rape and pillaging by them.
