Base Assignments
Does SWA give new hires a list of available bases, or do they make a "dream list" that has some type of input weight? Do most airlines work the same in terms of first assignments?
Thanks

I've heard that the FO's in training are considered "based" at DAL and that may be skewing the date for that particular domicile. My question is this; how long after date of hire can an FO reasonably expect to bid & hold DAL as a domicile (line flying or sitting reserve).
Thanks.

Amazing how DAL...
is so senior. Not being a native Texan, but living in Texas, I sense and hear a lot of negative remarks about Dallas/Texas in general from many airline folks. Yet, bases in Texas are always senior. IAH-CAL, DAL-SWA, DFW-AA.

Wright battle won?

Will this have much effect? I just heard the news that the Wright Amendment may be going away soon.

The ammendment is going away, that is for sure. The effective date has not been anounced though.
In regards to the domicile issue, here is my understanding of it.
In each class, a senority list is created with the oldest getting the #1 spot. The class is then ordered from oldest to youngest.
The class then "bids" for their domicile with the most senior (oldest) again getting the 1st pick.
Depending on the time of the class (literally time of year), there are openings in different bases at different times. There is no guarantee of a certain number of spots being availible at any base. Each class simply fills the holes left by others moving around or upgrading.
Generally, I understand that someone could bid Dallas within a year, but again it varies every month as people move and upgrade. Holding a hard line could take an additional year.
