This is some entertaining stuff. We on the West will just sit back and enjoy the implosion.
This crap does not affect the West side. We go to work, fly our trips, have some fun. It's all good.

I've been saying all along Doug has to retake his airline back from the hijackers and U has been held hostage for too long. The only chance U has long-term is for U to be one carrier and not two.
Perhaps USAPA finally gave Doug the rope to hang them with ?
Got my popcorn and it's ready to go now.

If situations were reversed, this is where DPA cronies would be talking about how the damages and fees will be a crippling financial burden on this union and a terrible assessment is going to be levied upon the membership.
---At least that's what they said about the TWA case.
Personally, I hope the USAirways pilots get themselves out of this jam without a scratch.

This is going to be very interesting.
A senior group of pilots from many combined old school airlines that had some of the best contracts in the past.
vs
A combative self serving management with a large percentive of line pilots from a lower tier airline with a history of siding/supporting management.
I wouldn't take a stand there if it was based on another pilot not taking my job.

Clearly it's two airlines sharing the same paint. Regardless of what happens here, these two airlines will NEVER come together as one. The U pilots despise both AWA management and pilots and everyone at AWA despises the U side and oil and water they shall forever be.
Doug is in a pickle and I wouldn't be surprised if AWA management is playing rough on the U side and doing bogus things. U pilots are probably right on this, but that matters little. Hatfields/McCoys, Isrealis/Palastinians or U/AWA, they're all birds of a feather and none will ever have a happy ending only conflict in perpituity.
Since it looks like it's finally turned into civil war at U, doug may have little choice now, but to go on a scortched earth campaign (which appears to be happening) and cleanse his botched merger and somehow try to get back to the past. It's his only chance at salvaging this carrier. I've heard he's even begged AA to take the east off his hands, but I don't think anyone would touch this operation with a 10-foot subpeona.
It seems it's destined to implode one way or another and thus absent dougs success at carving the cancer of USAPA out of his former being, it can only become a macabre sideshow for the onlookers. USAPA members apparently have no qualms beating EACH OTHER up, so I don't see them laying down their arms against AWA management.
It looks certain to become the adolescent tanbark fight of all tanbark fights.

You have no clue what you are talking about. The west pilots have been under constant attack from the east pilots since the arbitration came out. Usapa tries to fire west pilots, refused to hear west grievances, and functions as an east only "union" to the point that they are gutting from the west contract to give yo the east, these are facts. The west pilots are working as a block to save our careers from the east scum. We have no love for management but as they say, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. When the "safety" campaign started the west leaders saw an opportunity to bury usapa, and we did that by giving management the data they needed. Who in thir right mind thought that creating a union to screw one side would be a success? The arrogant east did.

U East is a pariah that has no future except to slowly melt into a puddle and USAPA has effectively now held the heat close and ensured it remains an isolated "scarlet letter" carrier. Sad actually, as there ARE some good people there.
