The sims may not like to be moved, but in reality they don't really need to work at all....Remember if you are a true professional all that matters is if you have your double breasted jacket buttoned, your shoes shine your hat on and the gear pins in.....and by the way the emperor is still naked!

Virginia Ave is down right dangerous after dark. I made the mistake once of walking back from training to the former training "hotel" ("motel, hotel, Holiday Inn"...you do the rap) at about 1:00 AM. NOT a good idea. If we're gonna consolidate all the training at HQ ATL, DAL needs to step up with some area security. Currently, its abysmal. Two years ago, I was staying at another hotel in the vicinity because the training place was full and 12 cars were jacked one night. Downtown might be an option but that adds 20-30 minutes to the ride. I'm all for cutting costs but at what cost?
Well, there was one time I was staying downtown at a hotel and someone had a bad "trip." I was with a gaggle of folks some of whom walked into the traffic and brought cars to a stop to escape this person running down the street in significant head pain.
Then there is that dragoncon thing, you actually feel safe downtown although its overcrowded with storm troopers marching down the street, ferries, conan the barbarian types, a guy walking on all fours, darth vadar and my favorite, chewbacca.
I'm with you given some posts but I can't see that complaining about VA Ave shouldn't be a violation of their policy. We're not complaining about or talking about which hotel, just that any hotel in that area is going to have issues and if we're going to significantly increase the volume of pilots coming down for training then an alternative needs to found because it will continue to be a topic of conversation and a distraction.

Didn't they just redo the FA training facility in MSP? Wonder what changed in the interum time frame? How many sims are there in MSP? Still do not see how ATL can handle the whole load. Anyone know how big Alaska's training center is and where it/they are? Assuming SEA but do not know.

There are 12 bays in ATL that will be available. 8 currently are open and 4 more are occupied by a 732 sim, 2 MD11 sims and 1 L1011 sims.
Those sims are housed in 3 buildings (OC1 oldest, OC2 next to it and home of the 4th floor, OC3 across the street and new with newest sims) and "Delta Training Center" with the FTDs. As far as the CAPT type FTDs there are 29 rooms upstairs of which 16 or 17 could be made vacant.
The level 2 FTDs downstairs are a different matter. There are 3 spots down there where stuff could be moved out and new ones put in but there just rooms not really bays so it's not like other office and classrooms couldn't be reallocated.
Now I say all of this not to say "HEY, IT'S BETTER THAN NATCO DOWN HERE!" Because frankly I only heard great things about NATCO but there is room.
What I'd like to see is pilot new hire classroom and the OC1, 2 and Training Building refurbished and improved. Especially the new hire room, BB needs to be given a better more professional looking classroom to indoctrinate our new hires, just saying, he and they deserve it. Delta has a nice facility, just needs some love.
