Airline abuse from Military guys
#2
Yeah, there is an option for you. How 'bout you man-up and serve your country instead of yourself. Then you might understand that drill weekend or a 4 month deployment to the Persian Gulf isn't an advantage to your personal schedule. Additionally most of the guys I know are taking pay cuts for the privledge of getting shot at.
Do you not read the newspapers? The country is AT WAR in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
And as for Christmas, I spent the last Christmas morning with a bunch of AA pilots, mostly based out of Dallas and Miami. Alarm Red mortar attack at 6 am followed by outgoing arty and an F-15E dropping a 500lb'er just outside the wire. Followed by opening presents.
Sorry you had to work for them.
The exact same crew of dudes is getting ready to go back in the summer.

My responsibilities are to my family and military service, not necessarily in that order depending on circumstances. The airline comes in at a distant third.
There are numerous exercises during the summer months for a variety of good reasons which include climate conditions and that fact that many reserve/guard enlisted are college students. You are full of BS regarding christmas, except for actual combat operations, the DoD shuts down for the xmas/new year holidays.
But thanks for for your support, and I hope you and your family enjoy the security that we all provide for you! And what if I didn't volunteer for reserves? They would then have to draft someone to do my job...well, I already did more than my time so it would be somebody else's turn. I wonder how a chikensh*t such as yourself would feel when you opened that certified letter from uncle sam inviting you to middle-east vacation... @sshole.

Many of these fine Americans are taking a drastic cut in PAY........because of involuntary Activiation.
Many of these fine Americans are spending 6 months to a year away from their families.
Many of these fine Americans are getting their A$$es shot at!
So pipe down, Sing the National Anthem at the next sporting event you attend, Better yet.......Join one of the Military reserve units and see how much fun it is.

AA, I know what you're talking about. Thanks for raising the BS flag on the perpetrators.
Just because they're doing an outstanding civil duty doesn't mean they should leverage it into a cush benefit at the expense of their peers.

Mr. 1 seat and 1 engine.
For your duty, Sir I salute you.
You are one of the
few (that I know) that actually contributes to the military.
Its the ones that have to go and "fly the desk"
at the San Diego Coast Guard that I have a problem with.
Your job is far beyond what I am talking about.
You sir, Are a true warrior and American.
I greatly respect that!
Its the other 75% that shirk out on their Airline job.
My apologies to you and your dedication.
I have seen it too many times these guys taking
these "pivot man" jobs in the service so they don't
have to fly reserve or some other less desireable
job. I question their Airline loyality.
It seems to me that when the going gets tough the Military
guys bail for some cush office assignment.
You Sir, on the other hand are no where near that statement.

And I know tons of AA/SWA/United/Delta/FDX guys who volunteer to suck up bad deals for less pay, just to get a chance to drop a bomb on some Al-Qeada idiot.
