This forum is by far the best for professional information and discussion about aviation.
Back in the pre-9/11 hiring boom, Flightinfo.com used to be THE place for the latest gouge on interview processes and hiring rumors, but now it's full of whiners and flame throwers.
PPrune is pretty good for the international point of view but it, too, is becoming pretty full of "opinions" not necessarily helpful to the overall aviation industry education process.

I understand about the desire for an "Airline Pilots only" forum. One thing that is great about this site is the ability for aspirants to be able to read and interact with real airline pilots. If there is a seperate forum, my guess is that the Pilots will flock to that, and the public message boards, where kids (or even adults with the wish to fly), will be devoid of any useful information. As divergent as the posts here are, they are all valuable. The learning that happens here is valuable - from the QOL of Regionals, to the extended rants about Scabs, to the history of the job, etc. Also - what about Military pilots looking to start a career?
Please think carefully about the Airline Pilot Only forum - it will create a huge learning vacum...and probably cause lots of people to go to Mesa, GoJets, or do PFT (because we wouldn't have anyone to set us straight! )

Jetcareers will take anybody and you can post anywhere. It's a great place for a newbie to get started. APC is a good progression past JC when you want to get serious and see more from professional pilots in the trenches.
APC is more of a serious place and less of a social place as compared to JC.

Thanks de727ups - I have read these boards for a long time. Would love to continue reading the stuff here. Like I said, lots of learning. Also, I post VERY infrequently - so I am not obtrusive - mostly I just want to read and learn. Rather than make an "all pilots" forum, why not limit who can post in certain forums? This would allow those of us who like to learn from clogging up certain boards with posts, but would still allow us to read. Would this work?
