Besides, Swiss Frank never worries about the nazis. He's kinda neutral on the whole issue.

Really? Currently there's a shortage of qualified nurses, medical doctors, especially geriatricians (a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and disability in older adults), as well as many other health-related professions. By the way, in case you didn't know this, as far as lawyers go, 10% of the attorneys earn 90% of the fees.

Your average legacy value($2.625 mil/30 yrs) works out to be $87K per year. Obviously it's wrong. Avg salary(w/o benefits) data for 2009 -
DL - 138K
AA - 138K
UA - 125K
CO - 150K
US - 111K
SW - 176K
JB - 125K
AS - 163K
AT - 104K
Your $10 million/30 yrs seems high. That would equal $333,000 per year as an average. Even if you subtract benefits(20-40%) the quoted average pay is significantly above what Captain's pay used to be. Early 1990's w/b pay was around $140-150K for n/b's and $160-170 for 767 class a/c.

Faced with being stapled to the bottom of the seniority list of the 'New United' or trying to go to another carrier and starting at the bottom again I am not planning to come back to flying. I can't afford it. After 20 years I need more than $38 an hour starting pay, a lot more.
The 65 rule made the pilot shortage worse not better, a lot of us just quit. Tilton told us the first time we returned we were going to be furloughed a second time if the 65 rule came into law. It did and we were. Well qualified pilots with years of experience out on the streets and we are not allowed to be fairly compensated for our qualifications like every other industry.
Supply and demand. Pay needs to go up to offset the training costs that pilots have to pay out of their own pockets.
Good luck to you all but I'm happy not being away from home 20 days a month. Years of life on reserve and short call sucked.
