Well, maybe. Hopefully it's not "hang on" to our jobs as the bottom half of the list is outsourced to regionals. I'm concerned about our narrowbody flying being consistently replaced, one "large RJ" at a time.
We have to fight it at some point, or this wave of hiring we are all counting on might not come to fruition.

Agreed. The writing is on the wall for the 100 seat flying. The company would love to outsource it which is why the dc9-30 acft replacement announcement has been delayed for years. We'll see how unified Dalpa is when the senior guys see a big raise dangled in front of them to give up the "smaller" 100 seat flying.

As much as I dislike what DALPA has done (or not done) for the past 5 or 6 years, I really don't think they would be foolish enough to even bring a TA like that to the pilot group. IMO, it would be the final nail in the ALPA coffin.

Ed, Dal88, and ice,
Sadly, this all misses the point. Delta management now has the ultimate hammer they've been seeking for some time. They have the option now to outsource ALL of our flying to the lowest bidder and whipsaw us in the upcoming Section 6. There won't by anything "dangled" in front of senior or junior pilots. We will need all of our energies and strike preparedness to stop outsourcing via a complete re-write of scope. And we will be fighting ALPA just as hard as management for it.

I'm going to give ALPA until 30 May to attack on the RAH issue, as the email promised they would re-examine it "in May". If they either a) do nothing, or b) decide not to at least pursue a grievance, my DPA card will go into the mailbox. I'd rather see us attack on this issue, spend some dues money on legal fees, and lose than do nothing. It would show management that we are serious about scope. Maybe more than that, DALPA could begin to show the members that we are being represented.

One more thing - DPA may not be perfect. In fact, they most definitely will not. But how could they be worse than a bargaining agency that has to represent both sides of the argument?
If you were being sued in civil court, would you hire the same law firm who was hired by the plaintiff? Even worse, would you continue to employ the firm after seeing they have more to gain by purposefully losing the case for you? It makes no sense, and I think Delta pilots are starting to see that. I'm fed up!

If the UniCal JCBA does not come out as industry leading with some scope recovery or at a minimum holding the line at CAL scope then I believe ALPA will have firmly established themselves as the premier Regional Airline union. The rest of us will be on our own.
