Spirit Questions
Haven't read a lot of recent information about Spirit (maybe a good thing?) I'm interested in applying, but curious as to how things are now that everyone has been recalled. Life for people living in base seems to be great, but how would it be for someone who had to commute 1 or 2 legs? Also, what's the latest with the ipo?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Reserve sucks no matter where you are. I've commuted to reserve in 2 different bases, both 1 leg, 2 hour commutes. Compared to my friends at regionals and legacies, I'd say we have it pretty good. 3 hr call out, and I've never been short called. 99% of my trips have always shown up on the computer the day prior...and day of calls, I've had 6+ hours notice. Afternoon reserve is commutable in and out. Our afternoon reserve is 10am to 12am...but on the last day we're auto-released 6 hrs prior (6pm). I really can't complain.
As far as the IPO...we've heard nothing...nothing at all.

Effectively its a 2 hr 15 min callout at all bases. On paper its a 3 hour callout but this is to departure time and Spirit requires a 45 min report prior to dept time. Nope, no airport, hot, couch, standby reserve at any base.

hey Willfly, i misread what you were asking. We have 4 reserve sections: 2am-4pm, 10am-midnight, 1pm-3am, and 9pm-8:30am. 170- though we do go to many caribbean and latin places, south of florida we only overnight in San Juan and Lima (due to flight length), I think Santo Domingo is ocassionally a scheduled overnight, though not currently. Lima is great the first couple times, although it recently went from 24 to 12 hours as its down to once a week. San Juan has tonnes of overnights of variing lenths and times. By and large our accomadations are pretty nice a la Crown Plazas, Hyatt Summerfields, etc. But like anywhere, a few places suck. Also the overflow hotels we occasionally get are usually dumps.

Some may claim to know what they're looking for, but I don't think anyone really knows. Being good friends with influential people always works, right?

The callout is 3 hours. The contract says you must have the ac ready to depart in three hours. It does not define "ready to depart", nor does it ever make any mention of report time. If you have a good captain, the aircraft will be ready, you walk on, close the door, and off you go.
