College degree (requirement for airlines)
Just a quick question, what majors and LCC's required a college degree to be hired? Based upon the last major hiring wave, were there any that did not require it? I know it's an important part of the hiring processes to stand out, but what are the chances of getting hired without one?
Thanks so much.

It appears a degree is becoming a more of a requirement, however like many requirements it's not cast in stone. If you click on airline profiles at the top of the page you can peruse the airline websites for more details.
Is the CH2000 really that bad, I read pretty good feedback on it?

Realistically you must have it to compete for a major, especially a first-tier major. The notable exception is SWA, I know a guy who got hired there with an AA but he had a family hookup too.
IMO when a major airline does not require a 4-year degree that does not mean they want to hire a bunch of people without one. What it means is that they are reserving their right to do so if it suits their interests...family connection, affirmative action, or whatever.
I suspect it would take less time to get a degree than to wait to get called without one (unless the pilot shortage materializes).

I think facts are, yes, you don't need a college degree to fly an airliner. But, without one you will be stuck under a "Glass Ceiling" that limits the typical airline pilot potential income and benefits.
For example, a good friend of mine doesn't have a college degree and doesn't want one. He's got thousand more hours of high quality PIC time in turbojets. Check airman. Sim instructor. Multiple types. Lives in Louisville - no degree, no UPS. If he had just put in the hours and gotten an online degree from ERAU, he'd be at UPS. He wishes he had one, but can't motivate himself to get one. So, he's stuck making under 100K and working his butt off for that.
Sure, some major airlines didn't "require" a college degree, but from my experience, the people who are hired at those companies without one are very qualified or very connected.
