In 2007 the companies that were hiring were, IIRC, JetBlue, USAirways, United, Delta, Northwest, Fedex, Southwest, and Airtran. Didn't want any part of US or UA, would have gone to SW if I had scored an interview without paying for a type first, would have been happy with DL, NW, or Fedex (ha, ha). DL never called, NW called after I was already 1/2 way through class here. Everything certainly lagged more than it does now, with the exception of our abominable health care. And yet there were promises: 6-9 month upgrade, future changes to compensation, reviews of processes as we matured, etc. Also, my friends who already worked here were generally happy.
You seem to conveniently ignore that I don't tear down JetBlue every chance I get: I enjoy my co-workers and many aspects of the job. I also happen to live in Boston so leaving is not my best option, but I still consider it. Frankly, I value my professional skills, investment in my career, and return to my family more than to lag the industry average in every category; meanwhile you've never answered why you're so emotionally invested in NOT fighting for more.

Simple, because I am of the belief that it behooves you to get out of the FFD regional blood-bath ASAP. As long as your company doesn't own its brand there is zero long-term job security (see Comair, ACA/Independence, Pinnacle/Mesaba, etc...).

Why would you vote for something less when EVERY other carrier has more?
On what grounds does the company say you don't get industry average?
If the pilot shortage comes to fruition wouldn't the pilot group be negotiating with an advantage?
If this company loses 200 pilots in less then a year jets will be parked.
Isn't the company shooting themselves in the foot by negotiating a contract that creates a tremendous amount of attrition?
Are you in favor of the direct relationship or should we vote in representation?

I hate to throw an off topic post in here, but I figured this would be a good group to ask with an fll base. Can anyone point me in the right direction for good/cheap hotels in the FLL area with an airline discount? I have called a few and rates I was given was exceptionally high (300plus). Thanks guys.

The problem comes downline... like two years into employment. When the CEO and the COO tells you to your face that they intend to improve compensation. Compensation, retirement, work rules, the list goes on and on...
Improvments that never come...
Either your a man of your word or your a piece of Schitt that lies to get what you need.
That's where the heart burn comes from.

For the umpteenth friggin' time, it's not the union. It was their ***** ass reps from their MEC. I fly in the Guard with one of their -900 Captains.

Don't be ignorant your entire life........
Your buddy at CAL may just be an unhappy person and wouldn't be happy unless he got paid to stay home. I know many, many people at CAL and they enjoy it. They have a new CBA with reasonable pay rates......certainly better than jetBlue.
Also, ALPA had ZERO to due with the situation at Pinnacle. Ignorant management negotiated money-losing deals with their mainline partners. There is only one reason Pinnacle is in the situation they're in.....POOR MANAGEMENT.
