When comparing equipment Delta and UA really just went way ahead. Yes, I know they were concession contracts before but those do have an effect on the entire industry. Everyone knows this is why JB gave us our huge 2.2% bump as quick as they did. Now that the majority of carriers are out of these bankruptcy contracts JB really won't have much to stand on with any since of character. I know the 3 of you on here will hammer me for this, but even JB's own hired hand says a raise needs to come using their magical formula. If not by then I'm sure there will have been another union vote. Till then I really don't get all the animosity.
The problem is we are soooo far behind in almost every category. Look at our health insurance, vacation system, work rules, retirement, PTO accrual, and now hourly wages. We can agree to disagree but because we are not on the same side of the argument doesn't make one side hostile.
I really wish we could use this forum to talk facts. Let's all educate ourselves about peer pay and benefits and then have discourse on this board.

You, personally, I didn't meant the animosity. As I stated a few post back I respect that we can talk like adults, it actually helps. There are a few others on here who don't see it this way. That's all I meant. An apology for that confusion.

No worries. Too many big talkers on anonymous message boards from this one to website forums on RC cars. I look forward to posting on the ALPA board where you use your own name.

I have no problem with that. Between my name and picture on here, it's pretty obvious who I am if ya ever run into me. Really, if we go ALPA, I'll wear my pin, just like I did till my last day at my last carrier. I definitely want the best for this pilot group. I just want all the info out there in an honest fashion. ALPA can be great but it can also corrupt just like management, snd I guess that why I really find myself on that 50/50 fence

I do know what I'm talking about. For some I'm there for others I speak to my peers. Unlike people like you some of us do volunteer, do know others on committees and email those committees when questions arise.
Some of us don't sit back and believe every word management spews. I guess taking charge of your own career is too much to ask.

So let's say I am on the fence in reguards to a union coming. Give me some honest non hostile answers to a couple questions.
There are many things I like about this company, to many to list but you probably like the same things. Most people I know with a union company hate life, even if they make more money. How much would bringing in a union change things? Would the company I like become a company I can't stand?
Is there any guarantee a union will make things better?
A union contract will lock us for 5-6 years. Do you honestly feel in this time frame our benefits won't come up due to competition and recruiting at other carriers?
Is there any fear a union would ruin the way management wants to run and build a business, and out of frustration and spite they would in turn do things like, take advantage of employees, furlough, file bankruptcy, or sell the company?
Is there any other way for pilots at this company to work together for better benefits other than a union? We are the ones that care, does the union really care what we get or are they just like every other company and want money?
