Guys in the pool. Pretty good intel that there will only be about 50 newhires the rest of the year. The bid next week should show us for sure.
Guys currently here. The bid next week will likely have around 25 upgrades. Probably no backfill on the bus for FO's as we are overstaffed in that seat right now. The company is hoping all the upgrades come from the right seat of the bus.

Thank you, it's good to see talk about the pool again.
Is Sept still a good estimate for classes?

Last person I talked to a couple of days ago who just came back from the schoolhouse said, "They (i.e. instructors) have no idea how many people are going to go through between now and the end of the year." Official word is still 75, but if Riddle recently got back from the schoolhouse his number is probably accurate. There is a bid coming out in the next week that should be taking account of all of the vacancies entering the system up for the next five months. I know that it's not new info, but I hope it helps. Hopefully the folks in the HR Dept. will update everyone in the pool soon with projections of class dates.

I know a lot has been talked about lately in regards to unions, pay, retirement, etc. I've been polling many of the pilots I fly with about pay scales and retirement at other airlines. Most don't have a clue about what others are paying, and neither did I. So I went to the pay section that's public on the forum and looked at all the carriers and did a 12 year snapshot of pay scales. Here it is. Again, I used 12 year scales for A320/B-737 or equivalent aircraft. I put it in order of highest to lowest pay for Captains with
the respective FO pay beside it.
Southwest: $216/$151 (Captain/First officer)
Alaska: $180/$121
Delta: $175/$119
Hawaiin: $167/ $117
American: $166/ $113
Airtran: $165/ $105
JETBLUE: $159/ $108 (doesn't include 2.2% raise)
Spirit: $153/ $91
Frontier: $152/ $94
Virgin: $150/ $95
America West: $138/ $91
United: $137/ $94
US Air: $125/ $85
I didn't look at retirement...just wanted to look at hourly payscales to see where we stack up against the others.

Personally, the reason to bring a union on property isnt to raise our base-rate pay, it is to have a CBA. A means for legally enforcing the terms of our employment.

I agree with that! I would also like to say that I've heard so many times that our 5 docs aren't worth the paper printed on or legally binding. However, I would say that with the current direction of the 3A suit, it would appear that our 5 docs are very solid and legally binding in a court of law. Right now we have 2300 individual contracts. I think we would be much more unified and stronger with ONE CBA. Being that our industry is so heavily unionized, I'm worried now about being run over in the case of a Merger/Acquisition. Not to mention, what happens when the company decides to change the current agreement we have. We must have protections in place for both sides.

This ^^^
As far as I could gather it was looking like sept classes for whoever asked. Also the bid should be out before friday. The company was counting on a bunch of FO's punching out, due to out terrible retirement forecast, for recalls and legacy hiring but it never materialized.
