Good post CCH.

Most of our issues will be fixed with a CBA. Plain and simple. Unfortunately too many of our pilots listen to rhetoric from Jetblue about unions. Or they came from a regional with false expectations as to what a union was supposed to do. Most of the FO's seem to say what did ALPA do for me at brand X. Well what did you expect I always ask. Then they say well ALPA screwed me. How did they screw you I ask.

Turns out most regional pilots expected ALPA to provide them mainline pay and benefits. When this didn't happen then it was all ALPA's fault. Give me a break.

No cba, nuff said. If I were a captain at a regional I would stay put and not waste your time here but that is just my opinion. Every person has to do whats right for their life and family but take it all into account and make the best choice.

If you live in BOS or JFK area then this can be an OK place. I would have stayed in the left seat at my regional if I didn't have to commute

in addition to the anemic benefits, if you are on reserve the flight scheduling manual is a meaningless article. Can't tell you how many times I heard stuff like this;

"hi Mr. Smith, we have a trip for you" (lucky me)
"wait, doesn't the FSM say you cant use me due to X?"
"Mr Smith, the FSM is just a guideline and we have an IROP going on" (oh god)
"when do we not have an IROP in New York?"

Not sure how long for new people on reserve but I'm guessing its going to be a long wait? Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

Not what I would call living up to the "values"

I'm very happy you had appositive experience with disability. Now being on LTD and paying close to $1500 per month things are tight, very tight. If you are lucky enough to have a spouse who works you have a leg up. Trying to fight this battle while dealing with office visits and and hospital visits is tough. This whole experience is a total joke being made at my expense. I'm nauseated every time someone sings the praises of this airline.

And lastly we are not all on the same team. 1193 are not on my team. If we had either JBPA or ALPA our insurance wouldn't be nearly as pathetic as it is.
Perfect ALPA member, ME ME ME. Not all experiences are negative as yours, and from reading all your posts it appears you may influence your treatment. The select few who are NEVER happy, CBA or not. Im certain if we had a CBA you would still be on here ranting away on the sub par language or whatever the case may be. Excuse the h_ll out of me/us whom actually enjoy the job AND COMPANY I/we CHOSE to be at, with the negatives as well. I will continue to sing the praises of this airline and when I cannot I will CHOOSE to leave, as I did with others. In the meantime, go find a bucket and cure your nauseation on your own. As for not being on your team, thats too bad, however I will not lose sleep over it as Im certain the other 1192 won't as well. Its a shame really, but it is what it is. Hopefully in the next year you can find and get on with a carrier that is out of bankrupcty and hiring, or no longer have pilots on furlough, and hiring, and hopefully attain that ALPA or other union pin you can attatch to your tie, but you would probably complain its too small. AFter so many years of different carriers and airlines, the realization came to me awhile back that no matter what the situation or airline, Union or not there are always the ones that want more or just are uncontent. They are at DAL, United/CAL, NWA, TWA/ AA...all with great benefits and treatment from their management and ALPA/Union...OH WAIT, they have a reason to B_tch, they have furloughes and/or in Bankruptcy, loss their retirements, ..etc. NO PLACE is perfect. Nuff said.

I concur with P1ayin! I've come to the conclusion that no matter what pilots will complain about something. Ever here the story about a hypothetical airline whose CEO said one day, "I want to make every pilot happy by paying them an annual salary of 1 Million dollars and will have to work ONLY on Tuesdays!" Suddenly a pilot raises his hand and says, "Every Tuesday?". Union or no union, complaints will take place.
