Oh Yeah? Well, 320 reserves are flying so little that their going out of 90 day currency and the lines are being built to less than 80 hours, so a trip in open time doesn't last more than a few seconds. Believe what you want, but "Hope" is not a good career strategy.

The company purposely over-hired in 2012 to drive down the amount of premium pay pilots receive. The plan now is to try to get us to give up premium pay in exchange for a better retirement. If that happens, then the line values will go back up. Hopefully that doesn't happen and the company will realize that we won't ever give up the premium trigger, but this pilot group has been so accommodating to management in the past that NOTHING would surprise me.

I'd love to have another 1000 below me, but I don't see anymore newbie's this year, take it for what it's worth....

Sorry for those in the deep end. The shallow end folks may find a class date.
FWIW, and probably not much, nonehtheless I just returned from recurrent yesterday and leadership spoke of a few issues. One being the newhires and the number on the board was 80 for this year. Speaking with our MTP instructor as well as our LOE instructor, they did seem confident on those numbers for this year and stated they are "prepping" for the upcoming training. Just relaying and hope to see the new guys get through. Good luck everyone, it is a good place to be.

Of course the OSC instructors hope that there are newhires, that's their job security. As I said, hope is not a good career planning tool. Just look around and it should be pretty easy to tell that we're currently overstaffed by 75-100.

Don't believe all the "conspiracy theory" you hear on the line. The bid divisors are always low in the first quarter. In the summer there will be plenty of open time, and higher bid divisors. I don't believe the premium pay theory either. JetBlue maintains a cost advantage due to the fact that the B6 pilot group is the most productive in the industry. Premium pay is a major reason for the productivity incentive at B6. Now, that said...I do agree that they may try to raise the premium trigger to offset the cost of the retirement increase, but this idea that they overhired just to prevent premium pay is a little far fetched, that would increase operating costs and makes no sense. They more likely planned for the FAA rest rules to have more of an effect on staffing and didn't quite crunch the numbers properly. Just my opinion, based on no facts.

Well, after a double merger, now a bankruptcy and a possible downgrade/pay cut in my future at my current carrier....hope is about all I've got.

Poor baby. Looking for sympathy on a jetblue forum that is mostly up to date hiring there. Lots of ex comair and whatever else and experienced FO's that are looking at a downgrade to the street that includes government aid. JB will hire when they hire..if you are fortunate enough to have upgraded at pncl and logged any number of pic hours, youre a lot better off than a lot of us. Enjoy your paycut cause its less than a lot of ours will be. Maybe obama will will forgive my loan and extend unemployment past 18 months so I can make what i make now to do nada...ha!

Obama doesn't extend unemployment, its Congress. The Congress has approved loan forbearance and forgiveness programs too. You should take a closer look in the Presidential mirror, and ask what Mr. Spanjers and his buddies were up to, as they took $$ for sinking the pirate ship? Good thing ALPA organized a picket in front of Mr Spanjer's gold encrusted corporate windows. Pinnacle's mismanagemt is a shame, and it's a continuation of the front office confusion that has plagued this industry since de-regulation. Kellwolf, soon you will be drinking the Kool Aid, and Nols will be first in line to facebook friend request a rec from you. Prob not going to happen.

I never said other guys didn't have it worse off, and I wasn't looking for sympathy. I'm not even sure that exists on internet forums anyway. I was simply pointing out that hope isn't a bad thing. I'm sorry life sucks for you right now, but looking for sympathy from other guys that have, essentially, gotten lucky isn't going to help you either.
