We are not paid an industry standard wage. That's a fact. Whether someone has a Porsche or a Yugo is irrelevant. What our insurance co-pays or monthly deductibles are is very relevant. The fact that pilots, life WD, are perfectly happy with our below average benefits package is extremely pertinent for a new hire. You must know that your being hired on to an airline that refuses to pay you an industry standard, not industry leading, package for what you do and surrounded by fellow pilots who refuse to stand up for what they are worth. Very pertinent information.

I get it. You are happy doing the same job as everyone else for substantially less. I can't argue with you on this. I think we should be paid an industry standard package and factually we are not. You are ok with this, I am not. As for my recall I'll take it when I'm ready.

Lake Alice...I'm pretty sure you knew the payscale and benefits package when you came to work here. It's public knowledge, not a secret. You are a miserable person and I hope I never have to fly a trip with you.

I always love the if you don't like it leave crowd. Bested only by the you knew the pay scales when you got here bunch. Crawl back into you BoB hole and keep spreading the blue kook-aide gospel.
We've been fighting your type on the committees for years. For every step forward we take you push us two steps back. You have no idea the level of frustration. Why do you think management pushed so hard in the charter to allow itself to appoint 1/3 of the committee members. You are managements wet dream.

Someone posted earlier that it ''isn't about the crewmembers anymore, it's about the shareholders'' I couldn't agree more. BUT, ALPA is a business too. And their biggest 'shareholders' are UCAL, DAL, and FedEx. So why am I going to pay 2% to a business that at the top of the food chain may not have my or jB's best interests in mind?
I think many pilots here realize that we are behind the curve when it comes to health care and retirement. In the end many 'no' voters would like the protections of a CBA but are not willing to vote for ALPA because of all of the baggage that ALPA membership comes with. I know many would back a JBPA, I wish that could happen..

However, the private sector does not have the same mission as the Navy. The mission is to make money. They will manipulate your sense of "duty" (did you swear to support and defend Jet Blue to the best of your ability?) to that end.
By blindly swallowing whatever management feeds you (as you were required did in the Navy), you are playing right into their hands.
You are now permitted to question authority, look out for you and your family first and foremost, endeavor to improve your income and QOL, and use critical reasoning skills.
