"Latest and Greatest" about jetBlue
#1811
I've heard of companies dumping poolies and making them re-interview before. This was done typically after either an extended hiring freeze (chapter 11) or a merger/acquisition. I highly doubt jetblue will dump poolies if there is a temporary (less than a year) pause. I think they will have to start bigger classes towards April to get ready for summer. Waiting sucks, my class waited 4 months to hear if we passed phase 2 and waited another month for a class date. I was always checking my phone to make sure I had a signal, checking email 10 times a day and dreading that freaking fedex truck. Just try to stay busy and make as much money as you can to prepare for training pay. We can't wait for you to get here!

It takes me 1.5 hours from North Kingstown, RI, to BOS when I'm sitting SCR, and that's just driving to the Chelsea Parking Garage. Then followed by a 20 minute bus ride to Terminal C, so Foxwoods would be out of range for a SCR...unless of course you plan on doing 100+ mph through Rhode Island on I-95. Good luck with explaining that one to the RISP!!!

I was in the pool at Netjets when that happened...good thing I didn't quit my job.

As far as I know jetblue has always kept the poolies and offered them classdates when hiring resumed. There were some guys who interviewed in 2008 and were offered classed in late 2010 when they started hiring again.

Where did this rumor come from about no classes the next two months. I have a possible military deployment that I'm trying to decide whether to give to an alternate.

For planning purposes, keep in mind that those 26 E190's will most likely be replacment hulls rather than additional hulls.
Good Luck dudes!

A couple reasons hiring suddenly slowed . . .
1) Hiring was accelerated due to the anticipation of the new rest regulation. However, the bill was repeatedly delayed, so the requirements will not take effect as soon as originally planned.
2) AMR bankruptcy. JetBlue was expecting massive attrition due to legacy hiring. Due to the bankruptcy of AMR and their downsizing, there will be no need to replace many of the upcoming pilot slots in the near term.

The rumor now is no classes late february thru October. Reason is we over hired a little in '11.
