@windrider, about a year ago I researched and answered several bullet points for you when you were all excited about coming to work here. Now I provide hard numbers to refute your point and I'm a negative nancy? I've made it pretty clear in my postings that I enjoy working here but think many things need improvement. Is it possible to make 100K on 3rd year Bus pay? Maybe. Is it LIKELY for a FNG to clear that on 3rd year? No, and that's why I provided my own numbers to illustrate what's more likely.

sorry ae... I didn't mean to personally attack you. thanks for all the info you have provided and i really didn't mean to direct that at you. I do agree with you that it would be tough...i just wanted to say that mathematically it was possible to earn that the third year but yes it would be tough, you would have to be a block holder for sure and have some seniority. I myself don't expect that because I'm an 85/hr month kinda guy myself. i was actually hoping to encourage the other pilot about leaving his 100K regional job that he could get back to it probably sooner than he realized. take care.

Windrider, thanks. Also, sorry that the initial tone of my post was a bit harsh.
Warthawg, USMC-SGT provided an excellent overview of the Reserve Assignment Process. One small addendum to his post: if all other factors are equal Crew Services does use seniority to assign Long Call vs. Short Call reserve, but it's rather low on the priority totem poll. YMMV, but historically Long Call reserve has been prominent during January-March, but as the increased summer flying and vacations kick in it is quite scarce from about April-December.
To the poster asking about leaving his regional job making 100k, I should clarify my thoughts. You will eventually make that amount here, and then your salary potential really only increases. For most regionals you're in the top equipment at or close to top of scale to make that much, whereas I made that in my 4th full year here without trying all that hard.
I've been vocal about improvements that we need here, and yet the working conditions and future salary potential far outweigh any upsides I had while at a regional. Best of luck.

Right! I wouldn't want to upgrade at my regional to sit as a Capt RSV in a crashpad again. Sweating commuting. Sweating staying current. Sweating the 6am show for airport ready reserve, a 8hr sit-around and 3hrs pay. BS! And the Clarion DTW blows.

Hey, they normally have a good breakfast. That was the only bright spot in getting shipped to DTW on reserve for a string of highspeeds.....

190 JFK RSV has been good. I flew 2 days in Nov. (Thanksgiving) I flew 3 days in Dec. As of today I have not flown in a month. This is not typical, it's just how my days stacked up. The company released me in advance on several days due to overstaffing. I do have a currency problem now, I think I'll end up back in the sim soon.
