You'd have to have an average of @ 91 hrs of credit per month(not including per diem) to crack 55K. With the possible slow down in hiring this year, reserve most of year(likely), my guess is 55K is probably out of reach for first year. You will gross @ $42.5K + per diem once you're done with training and on-line. Off reserve, it's doable.
What do you mean by slow down in hiring??

If anyone else cries about the pay, I'll take it!

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, but can someone comment on a realistic 1st year salary. Assuming most of the first year is reserve can one expect make over guarantee? Is 55K the first year unrealistic?

Thanks
In short yes, 55k is unrealistic. I'd plan on making low/mid 40's. 2nd year pay you should make 55k or more no problem. While on RSV you will likely fly less than 30-40hrs/mo.

If they get off their collective @$$E$ and turn on the FSM, rsv can pick up open time on day off above guarantee, that also may mean you hold a line much sooner too... however, We've been waiting for that for 2 years now.

There is money to be made as an FO with this company. . .senior FO's in most instances are making as much or more than some CA's who are on reserve. . however, you will just break $40k on your first year as an FO. . you won't have much PTO so if you have to take any time off most likely it would be unpaid at the beginning which would lower that number that much more. Once you are off reserve, you'll be able to pick stuff up in open time on occasion which will add to your guarantee.

91 hours per month is out of the question. With the reduced block hours per base you are lucky if you consistently hit 80-83 hours. Things are only scheduled to get worse. Jetblue is reducing the block hours, reducing the productivity of trips and awarding more flying to reserves.

How long does it take to get hell letter if you are not going to be hired, is there an avg?
Yes,
There is a guy here who got the phase II letter and then heard nothing for around 12 weeks before getting the fedex letter. There are also folks who made it into phase II and did not receive the phase II letter in error.

Simple fix is contact them and tell them he is in limbo..no denial letter and no phase II email. If you didnt get the phase II email he likely would have gotten the fedex letter within a week or so. Chances are he is in phase II and his email was lost in space.

I am able to pick up open time on my off days. We may be talking about different things though. I picked up to 63 hours (including reserve assignments) and was then assigned a 20 hour trip which put me over guarantee. I have yet to try to pick up a trip which would put me over guarantee, are you saying that would not be possible?

As for using reserves..I am hardly used. I would say that looking at the DRO most are seeing max of 40 hours and some of that was contributed to sick calls and drops through the holidays.
