"Latest and Greatest" about jetBlue
#1611
So were you entitled to this job or something? It sucks yes but learn from it and be grateful you had the opportunity at the very least with your resume.... We at my regional are hiring people with those times let alone jetblue who i am sure is not having any issue getting qualified pilots to apply for their job with better times then what you have to offer or I do (with times exceeding yours).
You have 2900 hours and I am assuming at Compass or Republic. You are a First Officer and on reserve? So you have been doing this how long now? I ask because doing this now for my fifth Christmas this is my first one with holding it off. First one I have not been on reserve for and still have no chance of an upgrade in the near future. But I knew what I got into and am not about to complain about it.
I have stuff out there too. But by no means do I feel as if I have been or will be having the worst time of my life this holiday because I was not ever even called. Be grateful for the opportunity. This post is probably going to make more thing you are ungrateful and exactly the type they rather not fly with especially at Jetblue or any other legacy carrier where you appear to feel you were entitled to such a position.
Take it as a learning experience and move on. I am sure there are probably more things for you to be grateful for this Christmas then to not be? Healthy kids, family and actually still being emplyed regardless of what the check is at the end of the day i am sure are better then some have this holiday year.....
Again it sucks, but seriously I doubt with the resume you place on here and or the attitude of entitlement you post many are going to have any sort of sympathy. Side note.... 1200 SIC means nothing these days.... There's a reason most companies are looking for TURBINE PIC.....

You know...I try to read some of these threads from time to time and it amazes me. There are a bunch of idiots in this profession who haven't a clue. No wonder this profession has fallen like it has....IDIOTS I say, IDIOTS. Man get a life and quit your *****ing, complaining and bashing others. When I ask hey how are you, why do I constantly get an earful about how your airline/company is screwing you over, and what they did to you last trip, and how this is unfair, that's unfair. I don't want to listen to your lame flying stories sitting around in the crashpad. Nor do I want to hear about your military flying days. P.S. White socks, rope belts and faded denim blue jeans went out years ago. LOL...Merry Christmas! Can't wait to read the replies to this.

Jetblue is interviewing pilots who don't even meet the minimums. They are turning down pilots with 15000 hours flying all over the world. They are hiring pilots with less than 3000 hours and ZERO jet time.
There is absolutely, positively no rhyme or reason to anything Jetblue's hiring department does. Apply, interview and hope for the best. If you are turned down, short of having skeletons in your closet, it's most likely nothing you did.
That being said this is not where you want to end your career. Keep applying but shoot for a carrier with proper pay, benefits and protections.

Why is JetBlue a place you don't want to be at the end of your career? Feel free to go to Delta, UCAL, or AMR at the earliest opportunity. Perhaps you are junior at JetBlue and therefore you are unhappy. But, JetBlue has very competitive pay, yes it can improve, but it is currently ranked 5th of all major airlines. Yes, the retirement can improve, but this is one of the only "growing" airlines that is remaining profitable in the worst decade in airline industry history. In just about 10 years JetBlue has gained average to above average pay if you choose to work more, all without a union.
JetBlue is a very good place to work and for the most part has very good management. If you want JetBlue to be a stepping stone to another airline that is fine, but I would contend that you are making a mistake in the long run. When you become more senior you will enjoy the opportunities that seniority offers any pilot at any airline carrier.

Well put Clear Right. This is probably Lake Alice's first real flying job and he/she doesn't know any better. The grass is always greener somewhere else. It kills me that I fly with guys here that came straight out of the military or got on here when this was still considered an upstart airline and they complain. Upgraded to Captain in less than three years and it's still not good enough. I was hired about a year ago and I love it here. I hope to retire at JB. I have 23 years left.

Junior, not even close. Pilots are still below average in pay. Well below average in benefits. Well below average in retirement. Well below average in LTD/STD. No merger protection. The only reason we have weak scope language is due to Flight Ops accidentally sending out an email which clarified what the scope language did not. As you mentioned above the airline is profitable and growing which makes the pay and benefits package even more insulting.
Jetblue has a nice working environment but it's not a career job.

The excuse is always were a young airline, there is a work around, vote no and we'll make improvements. Over 8 years of this rhetoric.
The "just happy to be here" crowd who refuse to demand industry standard continue to drag us down. No one is even asking for the best just standard and this great company to work for can't even do that.

Got my letter on Monday (Oct 14 AM Interview) and have nothing in my background that was not disclosed. 1 ticket in 2002, a failed oral for MEI in '06 and even disclosed about a loan that is overdue but we are working with the company to fix in case the credit check was an issue.
Sorry to be a bummer just had to vent a little, my very best wishes and best of luck to all of you still in the pool or already in class. You're with a GREAT company that will continue to be very successful and will treat you like the gold that you are! Merry Christmas everyone!
