Quite possibly the best statement of the year:

"The second was the worst crusty bag of rectums I have ever met."

Merry Christmas everyone and good luck.

Default January Interviews

Just spoke with JetBlue HR dept yesterday. She said there will not be any interviews in January, but they anticipate starting to interview again for the first few months following January.

Well I am no expert, but that tells me that they will want more swimmers than what they currently have in the pool.... Hopefully that means, for 2012 the number will be back to around 250 or so... Anyone have more info on the number of pilots they want to add next year? Happy Holidays!

Patiently waiting in Phase 2...

Got my letter on Monday (Oct 14 AM Interview) and have nothing in my background that was not disclosed. 1 ticket in 2002, a failed oral for MEI in '06 and even disclosed about a loan that is overdue but we are working with the company to fix in case the credit check was an issue.

I have the E-170/190 type, ATP and around 2900 total with around 1200 turbine 121 time with an internal reccomendation at JetBlue. I am confused as all heck as to why I was rejected. Is my background really that bad or could it be that since they won't be hiring as much as they thought, that they are picking those with higher hours? This is turning out to be the worst Christmas for me and my family. First working the holiday on reserve, making only $1600 TOTAL this month and now my only light at the end of the tunnel has been shut off.

Sorry to be a bummer just had to vent a little, my very best wishes and best of luck to all of you still in the pool or already in class. You're with a GREAT company that will continue to be very successful and will treat you like the gold that you are! Merry Christmas everyone!

There is reference to a pilot hiring committee in the phase II letter. The rejection may not be a result of something in your background. There is a possibility that when the "committee" looked at your total package when compared to the rest of the phase II crowd that you were no longer considered competitive at this very moment. Your hours could be something that would have put you in that category. Many folks have internals here so the TT and lack of TPIC could have been the difference.

Total speculation on the reasons you may have gotten the letter but your experience seems to be on the lower end of anyone I know who has gotten hired in the past. I would re-apply when the opportunity presents itself again, jetBlue is interested or they would have not passed you into phase II. With the winter slow down in hiring it seems they have plenty of time to evaluate who is in phase II.

2900 TT is lower than average right now. FWIW in 08' I had over 6k when I got hired, and I just ran into a fella with 7500pic in a 757. Competition is tough right now.

Hang in there, get your stuff back in when you can. I personally know two guys who got in on the second run through.

Good Luck

Ben,

Keep your chin up. I was rejected at my first airline interview (UAL) and felt like I was "crushed." Not getting hired at UAL ended being very lucky for me timing-wise (mid '99 interview). There will be plenty of hiring by most companies just around the corner. Keep building time/quals and maintain a positive attitude and your ship will come in.

Merry Christmas!

No offense but only Jetblue would be interviewing pilots with 2900 TT.
