"Latest and Greatest" about jetBlue
#1491
FWIW: I got hired in 08 right before the door slammed shut for two years. There was virtually no movment here for 3yrs. While we have our "issues" here at jetblue, it's a good place to work. Even at the bottom it's not all bad. Even if there is a slow in the hiring, the long term outlook of hiring is still good. If it's not about the money go with what ever is gonna make you the best QOL.
Good Luck
Good Luck
Thanks CaptCool, i appreciate that !

If hired today, it's probably a good bet that you'll be in the right seat for the next 7-10yrs too. We have a very young pilot group, lots of late thirtys and early forty somthings. The days of the fast upgrade are gone. That's my guess with our lack of retirements and current order book. I hope I'm wrong it could get faster, it is the airline industry. Changes like the wind blows.

I heard the same new about the" 70 pilots next yr" from a guy in the Nov 3oth class. He also said there was only ONE guy in the Dec 7 class...This news is to my dismay, my choice to leave was already hard enough. I was just made a LCA at 75 hr gaurantee ($138/hr). Leaving current job is not as easy after hearing about the stunted growth
That said, i think the QOL is still better at JB than current...so, whaddya do? hmmm...

The schedule showed 1 320 and 2 190 new hires in the Dec. 7th class. Not sure if all 3 spots ended up getting filled. Keep in mind,
- it's the 25th class of the year,
- they ran an extra class in Nov,
- it's close to Christmas, and
- there are still 2 classes scheduled for January 2012 as of right now
My point is JetBlue has done a lot of hiring this year. Hopefully the small class and light Christmas training schedule are just a blip on the radar.
As for the rumor of 70, sure it could be true. Things can and often do change quickly. Nothing has been officially mentioned about any deviation from the forecast of 250 next year or that hiring is going to stop. The information I was given a little over a month ago was roughly 250 new hires in 2012, about 10% more if rest rules change, and more on top of that if attrition increases above normal rates. This does not portray a company hiring simply for attrition, but rather mostly for growth. I'm not sure what the exact number is, but I would guess we average roughly 7 crews per airplane. If JetBlue takes delivery of 11 airplanes as scheduled next year, that's 11x14=154 new hires just to staff those airplanes. So I would say 150 is a great minimum target for hiring numbers for 2012 assuming we grow by a net of 11 airplanes.
This is just my opinion based on what I know. Things could change at any time. I'm just trying to put things in perspective for Phase 2 people or anyone who might have an interview coming up in the future.
Hang in there, it'll happen eventually...

He stated 11 new aircraft yes but didn't mention any new pilots. It would seem like common sense but there is a chance that some of the 11 will be replacement aircraft for older aircraft.
