Last I heard, most all of the newhires are going into the Airbus for a JFK or BOS base.

300 pilots to be hired in 2012.

I am not convinced we will be hiring 300 in 2012 just based off of the last vacancy. I hope I am wrong.

They put this bid out because the FSM says they have to do one quarterly. I'd look for a "suplimental" bid in Jan or Feb to be effective in july. They did the same thing in 2010. 300 seems alittle high to me though. I don't know if 11 airframes needs that many, but we'll have to see what kind of attrition we get when the others start hiring again.

This is an interesting point.. Everything I've heard from the training department says 300+ hires for '12.. Latest vacancy bid says a net gain of what.. 12 positions through June?? Doesn't seem to add up with all of the additional flying we are getting (slot auction, DFW, etc.). I feel like JB is going to be making a staffing annoucement soon.. any thoughts?? Maybe a new base??

'Can' being the operative word. I think JB is too brand-conscious to actually do it. Just my opinion - I know many who would disagree.

It's more than 11. There are 11 new planes coming on to property, plus an additional 7-8 that are returning from service ( old 320's) that the leaser could not find an operator for. The leasing company is giving these planes back for an extremely cheap price, just to get some cash flow flowing for them.
