To help take some worries away about reserve at jetblue I will tell you it is nothing like reserve at the regionals. Its not perfect by any stretch but being able to sit 2700 miles from my base playing with my kids while on reserve is amazing. I use FLICA to block my days together to cut down on my commutes and I have only spent 1 night in my crash pad in the last 2 months. I place bids for trips that line up with my schedule once long call is not an option and I have always gotten them. I would rather fly if I have to commute in so this works for me. I have yet to break guarantee but like others have said your time on reserve at this point is looking rather short. I am looking at getting a line probably in January with the number of guys coming in behind me so overall that is great. Its a great company to work for and I have been blown away by all the crewmembers I have come in contact with. Welcome aboard!

I've had similar results while on RSV. How much in advance are you bidding for the opentime trips for RSV? I've had a few slip away the last few months right before I come on duty. I will say that luckily I've always got a very reasonable advance warning about a trip drop down. Are you at JFK currently? With the system bid and folks finally coming in behind me it is looking like a line soon for the 190 folks in my class including myself.

RiddleEagle18, p1ayn, & dashrash,

Thanks guys for the info.

I have a lot of experience with FLiCA so maybe I will be
able to work the schedule pretty good.

I don't have the option at my current airline to pick trips
while on RES. That will be new and different. Also never
had the option of picking up an extra day of RES. How does
that work? Do they have to request it from me or can I ask
for it? Does it then add time to my guarantee?

Thanks

I have to agree with this post. JetBlue is by no means perfect, and yes there is always room for improvement. That being said, it is a great place to work. You can work your schedule to your benefit. You can work as little or as much as you want, within Seniority limitations of course. But the good news is the company is growing for the foreseeable future, 2 months average on reserve, you can't beat that. Reasonable first year pay, and I think they rank 5th on overall average pay of the Major airlines. Good luck to all in the hiring process, you will enjoy JetBlue.

Extra reserve days can be picked up when crew scheduling sends out an email to all pilots for what is called a RSA. RSAs can be picked up by anyone, for any base, but you are responsible for getting yourself to/from the RSA. When you get the email you simply reply and request the RSA. It is a first come, first served type of thing. RSAs are worth 4:12 on top of your guarantee, so a reserve guarantee would be 75hrs +4:12 = 79:12 for the month, and anything above 78hrs is paid at 150% rate.

The past month or two I havent seen many RSAs offered. July-Sept we were getting RSA emails several times per month.

Does anyone know where we are at with class dates being filled versus when those folks interviewed? I hear Nov 30th being filled, does anyone know when those folks interviewed? Has anyone from the Oct 13/14 interview dates been offered a class date yet or are we still placing from Sept 14th phase 2?

Thanks!
