At my former employer, this certainly did NOT constitute a failure. Unless you're going for a type/upgrade, pilots were permitted up to 3 retrains before the ride was considered unsat. I'm confident that this is the case at most operators, but I'd double-check.

Well, jB is in the process of training sim instructors as well as new hires, so that has been eating up a few of the slots in each class. Also, standard class sizes are roughly 10-14, so I wouldn't say the upcoming classes are any different than normal.
In the past few months, there were a couple of future classes showing large numbers (about twice the normal class size), but they were adjusted as the dates have gotten closer. Until it's within about a month or so of the class start date, you have to take the projections with a grain of salt because they can and do change.

Anyone got an idea of how long it will take to move folks from the last system bid? Will they wait until right before March?

I was awarded a transfer from JFK to BOS on the last system bid. Initially, Crew Planning told me that I would transfer on March 1. Towards the beginning of October they sent us all an email and offered an early transfer option of Dec 1, which I took. So now I will be switching bases in a few more weeks!

Was at OSC today, spoke with someone "in the know", he said @ 35 more new hires before year's end and "atleast" 250 in 2012. Take it with a grain of salt.
