jB'ers...
Have a question...actually just want to clarify the process.
Phase 1 is the interview correct?
Phase 2 means your hired...contingent upon a background check correct?
- You can (and probably will) be in class or even flying the line by the time you complete Phase 2?
- But....there is still a chance you could get canned out of Phase 2...even if in school or on the line?
Someone, somewhere said that you shouldn't quit your day job until you pass Phase 2....is this the smart and conservative route?
...i'm just trying to figure out how I want to answer the question of "When are you available?" this Wednesday at my interview! Thanks folks.

Wish I knew that one. I'd guess by May-June we have a decent shot at holding something. The last system bid had around 10 BOS 320 openings that went unfilled, and they have been offering BOS 320 to a few newhires recently. It will take around 15-20 guys below us before we can hold a line. You might be gone to the west coast by then!

Someone said a couple newhires in a recent class went 320 BOS. When are you guys scheduled to transfer there?

Flyn - Yes, Phase 1 is the interview. Phase 2 means you passed the interview and are through to the background check phase. The email telling you that you've advanced to Phase 2 will be somewhat anti-climactic. They will explain that it's not a job offer, just notification you've made it to the next phase. Now, when they call you and offer you a class date, that is the job offer.
My personal theory is that when you complete Phase 2 and when they tell you you've completed Phase 2 are not coincident. Just my opinion.
As for availability, I told them I only needed 2 weeks advance notice for a class date, since that's the minimum notice I would need and want to give to my then current employer. I get the impression most people answer with either whatever their minimum notice requirements are at their current job or ASAP.
Good luck with the interview!
