Dwane - Lately (the last year), the norm is to notify people they've completed Phase 2 around the time of your checkride/beginning of IOE. So it's probably best not to hold out too much hope of hearing anything until that time. Might come sooner, I just wouldn't expect it to.

I suppose getting an offer for a class date is a pretty good indicator that phase II looks good (it should...no issues that I'm aware of). If not, I suppose I may have seen a letter.

I have not heard of anyone waiting to pass phase II before taking a class date. I also have not heard of anyone passing phase II until typically just days before finishing IOE. I am not sure why but I have a feeling they wait to extend the "full" offer for some reason. A few folks I know waited a few months for a class date and knew for a fact that their background checks were done and they still got notice of passing phase II just a few days before completing IOE.
Not sure how it works but I have no idea how long you would be waiting if you waited to officially pass phase II before accepting an offer.
If it helps at all, most people are likely in your shoes (maybe minus the baby.) Most folks are currently employed with 5-15 years of seniority where they are and in the left seat and they choose to leave that on a conditional offer. I would *think* that they would not offer you a class date if they were not comfortable with you as a candidate. I would say the only fear would be an actual problem. If you did not disclose something such as a criminal offense or a failure or violation, something along those lines. I just dont see them sending you to class and then potentially a few weeks short of completion or even in IOE sending you a fedex package giving you the "thanks but no thanks."
edit- As for the out of business employer...no big deal. The company that is subcontracted to do background checks will get a hold of you and you will work it out with them, not jetBlue. They are very used to that sort of situation in aviation and they will tell you what you need to do to tie up that loose end.

I agree with what usmc-sgt said. Further, while I'm sure it's happened, I have yet to hear of someone being removed from class once they've started as a result of not passing Phase 2. Again, I'm sure it's happened, but I've never heard of it. What I have heard of relating to removal from class is a couple of situations where the person's actions during training resulted in them being removed from training and shown the door (think bad attitude, TWI, etc).
Good luck Boca, hope to see you around soon!

I am looking at EMBFlyer's case where he has nothing in his closet..... I am thinking I am going to ask them to complete Phase 2 before starting class myself. I have a squeaky clean background as well, I'm just paranoid something comes back as an issue (like incomplete) to someone on the committee and they say no thanks after I quit my current job. I have extensive international experience and I know of one job that will come back as incomplete because they went out of business. Would you suggest waiting for the all clear as well? My instincts are telling me to not leave a good job with a baby at home if they are not 100% committed to me until Phase 2 is complete.

Does anyone know if Jet Blue retains our profiles in their system after the application window closes? I submitted my app on September 9, but haven't gotten a call. I just talked to my buddy who flies for them, and he said he thought if you didn't get a call, then you would have to reapply the next time the window is open. He wasn't certain though.

EMB, man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I'm actually quite terrified of getting a FedEx letter. I want this job so badly, that if that happens I'll likely be crushed. I don't have a 737 type, but I DID work for said airline as a ramp agent for a few years. Personally, I think they've gone a little out into left field with their business model lately, and as a result, they've fallen down my list of potential employers. Meanwhile, JetBlue is still firmly in the #1 slot. Here's hoping.....

I haven't heard of JB disliking the 737 type rating on a resume, but it's possible. I know of another 121 carrier who specifically asks if you have the type on the application. I think the red flag at some hiring departments is if the applicant has a 737 type, but has never flown the airplane, nor worked for a carrier who operates it. Strange business. On the other hand EMB I have heard of JB re-interviewing candidates and hiring them 6 months after their initial interview. Good luck to you, don't beat yourself up, S*IT happens, something even better is probably around the corner.
