They will and have hired with failures as long as you disclose. If you fail to disclose and they discover it's pretty much an instant no.

Exactly you need to disclose anything as you are given the opportunity to do so during the exit interview. This includes not only check ride busts, but that speeding ticket, arrest and conviction way back in ....they will find this stuff out depending upon the carrier, and where you reside. The difference being a ten year check, or all the way back.

I'm guessing it has to do w/ my availability date? So...can someone tell me how to best approach this...it's gonna sound confusing btw!

Details:
1. My mil commitment is up in June 12'
2. Overmanned year group (2000)
3. Overmanned MWS (C17)
4. They (AFPC & Palace Chase folks) said that I would be an easy approval for Palace Chase to the Reserves because of 1, 2 & 3 above.
5. They said a hire letter from the Reserves would pretty much seal the deal and make it painless. Just got one of these!

Problem:
1. Palace Chase requires ~90 days notice from submitting app to seperation....granted most are turning much quicker.
2. You are not supposed to accept/commit to civilian employment until PC paperwork is approved...just in case you get the "denied" stamp.

Question:
How do you put this on an app/resume? If I put 90 day notice, I may never get a call. Should I just put 90 days from now (Jan 12') and explain later if I get a call. But lets say in Jan, jB decides to call me/offer me a job, and I submit PC then, my availability would now have slipped to Apr (~90 days)

Catch 22: If I submit for PC today, I may not be released until Jan. I'll be on the street and available for immediate employment, but can't really feed a family with only 6 TR days/mos. So every day I wait just pushes the 90 day reqmt 1 more day further down the road.

BL...I need them to call me. The sooner they call, the sooner I can push send on the PC paperwork...and be ready ~90 (or less) days later

Suggestions? Thx.

From one mil guy to another.. From talking to folks here , they won't call you until you are at you avail date. We need folks now. Makes no sense to interview you to sit in a pool for months vs a guy tat can start next week. Keep updating though. It will work out when you are about to separate. Also any insider recs for you?

Understand your situation. I would Bank as much as possible, put in the PC paperwork now.. Accept a reserve slot and wait it out. Most majors are going to be ramping up hiring. Your timing will be good.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah...2 internal recs (2 FO's...you want to help a brutha too? haha) PC now is risky stuff...in my mind. USAFR's are looking at some budget cuts and manning days are going to be at a premium. I have a feeling that the days of troughing are over....so supporting a fam on 6 days of work a month does NOT sound cool. I was always told that the airlines were understanding about the Mil commitment stuff and if they interviewed and liked you...they would work it out w/ you.

Question though....how long is the training? I'm sitting at about 60 days of leave right now and wondering how I could use them to my advantage. Maybe I could set a date of separation for PC and use the 60 days prior to adjust my availability? i.e. Use 60 days prior to 31 Jan 12 as my availability date...interview (if invited)...explain the situation...drop papers and put in the leave? Crap...I don't know...just exploring options.

So, has anyone that interviewed Sept. 14th or 15th heard anything about a class date, or maybe passing phase II?

If you are even thinking about not disclosing some issue from your past, then its probably the exact type of thing that comes up later during a background check.

As the OP mentioned, the phase II letter they send "seems kind of harsh like you may not make it still." Therefore, there is still some level of anxiety for those of us in phase II, even when everything was fully disclosed.

Training is right around 6 weeks. It could run a few days less or a few days more depending on scheduling.

So has anyone done a background check on themselves, and where did you go to do it? Not too concerned except I don't want something that I didn't expect to be on there.

Example: Years ago outside of a bar some guy suckerpunched me on the street (I never said anything to him, and still to this day I don't know who it was). I tackled him, got on top of him and started beating him. Cop came over and thought I was the one who started it. I was pulled off, got arrested while the other guy ran away. Went in front of the judge the next day and was found innocent (doorgirl outside of the bar saw the whole thing and testified in my behalf). I figured the whole thing is tossed, but I don't want an airline to find out I didn't disclose this. If I could run a background check on myself to see what I do and do not have to talk about it would save a lot of headaches.
