Along the lines of what Coolhand said, lack of currency puts one at a disadvantage. Even though your background and flight time meet their mins, in your peer group (military), there are a TON of guys who may have taken their most recent flight the day before they filled out the app and/or interviewed. Keep in mind, it's a hyper competitive market right now, and will be for a while. "It is what it is" as they say. Even pre 9/11 people were running into obstacles if there wasn't any recency of experience. Some would simply go to a regional/135, or somewhere else where they could get some recent experienceget and resubmit/update/get their buddies to walk their stuff in and get called very very quickly. I'm not saying that's what one has to do, but it was common back then.
Now, with that being said; a friend from my previous employer took leave to go do a non flying military obligation. Hadn't sat in a turbine airplane in roughly 5+ years and got on at JB earlier this year. So it CAN happen. Now, naturally his rec letters were very very solid, as well as very very plentiful as the alumni from our previous employer is pretty prevalent at JetBlue.

Do you know what classes they have reached so far and when those folks interviewed?

Personally, I'm still waiting from the 8/25 interview, but I've heard of a few people from 9/14 getting the call.

It shouldn't be. I got my PRIA and FAA paperwork within the first week. I've been at 2 airlines as a pilot since 2004. I've been at my current one for almost 7 years. There were a couple places that I worked in 2003 and 2001 that I don't believe are in business any longer, but I haven't heard anything from the background check company. What's weird is that others are getting conditional offers and I've not heard a thing since I got the Phase 2 e-mail.
