Official NPRM - watch out commuters :-(
#21
All of the guys I know who opt to commute either come in the night before or make it to base with at least three hrs prior to report. They then take a nice nap to add to the nap they took on the flight.
Many of the guys that live in base play House daddy or mommy until the last possible minute then jump in the shower and rush to the airport.

I live in base now and if I have an afternoon show I have a lot of chores to get done before I leave.
That said. Coffee makes up for a lot and I have no commuting stress now and I never once got to ride to work in the back, I was always in a jumpseat. I also sleep at home, which unfortunately means little sleep due to a baby but at least I am home and not in a dirty lazyboy with the cleaning people running vaccums and dot matrix printers going off.
When I was at Coex the crashpad thing in EWR just got to be too expensive and too difficult. So I dropped using it and started sleeping in the crewroom which more often than not was already packed by 9pm so I'd sleep in the terminal. That's not healthy.
So all that to say, either way has it's pro's and con's.
