Anybody out there get a call from CAL recently? My buddy who is pushing my stuff keeps telling me that the doors are about to blow off the hiring, just seems pretty quiet out there lately.

I have had my stuff in there for a year and a half. I have a friend who called last weekend and said if I wanted, he would talk to "people" to get me in the right pile for a call.
The hiring is supposed to get busy starting next month!!! Last I heard was 60 per month.
He's been there only about a year, and says he is about 90 from captain in EWR. But he wants CLE, so he might pass.
Who knows.
Spirit wast o hire 24 FOs this year, and a bunch next year. Now they are slowing things down.

You need to be 24 to work at CAL? Where does it say that?

You don't need an ATP certificate. Just the written. I know supply and demand has a lot to do with hiring in this industry, but mins are mins.

I'm curious as to where this "24 years old" thing comes from also. I thought the min age for an ATP is 23?

The following are the minimum qualifications to apply for a pilot position:

1,500 hours fixed-wing total flight time
1,000 hours fixed-wing PIC time, or 500 hours PIC time and 500 hours SIC time in a turbojet
1,000 hours fixed-wing turbine time
1,000 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time (civilian or military) or 1,000 hours single-engine military fighter jet time
A current ATP written exam
A current first class FAA medical
A current passport
A Bachelor's degree is highly desired

Guam's pretty full and hard to get as a new hire now. I almost went there, but it was easier not to move the family from PA to Guam. It's not great for kids. Schools suck. Plan on home schooling. Flying is different: all 737, mostly night, mostly turns with no (few) overnights. No thanks.

Just got called for an interview, 4000 TT, 1200 T-Prop PIC. Age, well....young. Sponsored, no suprise there. Still feel like I'm coming from behind. Grateful as all hell to have the opportunity.
