Default Hawaiian Meals On Alaska

Hmmmm, sounds yummy, except I'm not so sure about eggs over pineapple "flied lice."

You know, I ought to ask Alaska for a commission since I post so many things about them. With such high traffic on APC, I am sure they have acquired some new bookings because of us.

Seattle-based Alaska Airlines started new daily service Friday between San Diego and Kahului, Maui, along with a new Hawaiian-themed menu and coffee on all flights to Hawaii.

The new flight leaves San Diego at 9:20 a.m., arriving in Maui at 12:10 p.m., and leaves on its return trip at 1:10 p.m., arriving at 9:35 p.m. (all times local).

The new menu includes a "Hula Blend" coffee, designed for Alaska Airlines by Seattle's Best Coffee, a Hawaiian skillet with scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage served over pineapple fried rice for breakfast and a grilled teriyaki chicken rice bowl with stir-fried vegetables for lunch.

"Our new menu offers customers in the main cabin appetizing meals for purchase designed to make flying at 30,000 feet a memorable part of their Hawaiian vacation experience," Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines' vice president of marketing, said in a news release.

To celebrate the new San Diego-Maui service, Alaska Airlines Vacations is offering up to $250 off a vacation packages for travel between several West Coast cities, including Seattle, and the islands of Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii. Vacations must be booked by Oct. 15, 2010, for travel completed by Jan. 31, 2011.

This is the same food that they have been serving for over a year.

No worse than the SEA-ANC flights where the rough & tumble guys eat those "angus" burgers and drink a bunch of beer. Mix those two together and wait a half hour... definitely not a good combo.

Nah nah nah... you got it all wrong. Warm hard boild eggs which are a few days old and copious amounts of beer just about 45 minutes before boarding. Fermentation and voila.

If they make a pot of coffee with a single bag, it's not all that great. We usually have the FA make a "double bag" pot. No cream & sugar either... just some strong, black, tar going down the gullet. Now, you're talkin'!
