BTW - There is a story that continues to be told that a few years back when the line up in DTW was substantial someone asked the lone SWA plane waiting in line "Hey Southwest, WHAT COLOR IS THAT ANYWAY?" After a brief pause the answer came back "THE COLOR OF MONEY." No one commented after that. It just a story though. My children who are brainwashed still say it when a SWA plane flies overhead.

Dung/paper mill, it is all the same. The color of your plane however, I don't know how I can endure. Still stuck in the 737 with no relief in sight. The Oscar |

Yeah, I remember the stench from the paper mill in PNS. I endured it though and it doesn't seem so bad now. We all have to endure sometimes, even when our planes have a strange paint job and when we paid for our type rating (which also doesn't seem so bad now).
The Oscar And FedEx, pay is nearly the same for the nearest comparable aircraft but they don't require a type. Delta didn't require a type back in 2000 when the pilots got this contract either: http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...id/temp-29.jpg Good thing SWA showed us all the way to higher pay with the industry leading contract six years after that one. I question because I remember the "if you pay for training then you're ruining the industry" that regional pilots heard all about until 1999-2000 time frame. Wonder why SWA was exempt? --- I have a question for the masses, what happens to the XM radio in the AAI airplanes and wifi? Will that be removed? |
Because for some odd reason WN can do no wrong in many people's eyes.

UPS doesn't require you to pay for a type to get interviewed or hired and they pay about $20-$40 more per hour in both seats and a higher min.

So, exactly how long were the 2000 rates enforced before the current contract rates went into effect?
The irony, get ready for this, ready- ready, everyone ready? The irony is as we talk about pay rates the best thing for DAL pilots is to have AAI swallowed by SWA with pay rates higher than ours here in ATL. AAI would've never gotten 5th year FOs to $124/hr. All of this is good. There are a lot of other reasons its good, I for one think competition is good unless you have a monopoly- but DAL didn't have an ATL monopoly. The better thing that could happen is a DAL/NWA like contract pay raise to get everyone to play nice. That'd be even better. And that's why I would love SWA/AAI to have their own merger thread on the major section. All in favor say, "HO". |
I am about to post an article, I don't like posting articles as much as I used to. I like many of you think they take up too much room. However, this seems like a very interesting article for all involved.
