Gloopy,
If it's irrelevant, then why did we get a deal? There are downsides to "100% recapture:"
American Eagle = $104
ExpressJet = $97
Republic = $119
SkyWest = $112
Air Wisconsin = $101
GoJet = $97
Horizon = $114
Mesa = $104
Pinnacle = $87
Trans States = $97
Average = $103
Delta E195 - $154.48
Delta E190/CRJ900 - $131.42
The money has to come from somewhere (hint: it's your profit sharing).

...............in some bizarro world.

That's in november on a category that is heavy on staffing. Sitting rsv in the summer with the shortened bid periods (the biggest concession on C2012) is a whole different story...

It's apples to oranges though. They're not even remotely comparable. Management likely has a better chance of going from 76 to 82 seats than the pilots are at grabbing full recapture in one contract. So I don't think it's irrelevant at all. To state that not allowing it in the TA isn't a win is wrong. Especially when UsAir pilots allows 86 seats in the RJs in UsAir Express colors.

Try again. We have been short in this category for 3 years. That is one of the reason that I believe the manning formula is only slightly more believable than Bigfoot. We NEVER have a full month of over availability of reserves, while ATL does almost every month. The company has the advantage of poorly staffing categories such as mine with no consequence because they can send a reserve to cover the trip.
The point is though, that reserve is a good deal in a vacation month.

The 86 seaters were grandfathered in from AWA, just like the higher gross weight Compass E175s and higher amount of 76 seaters allowed were grandfathered in in the NW/DL merger. That amount has not increased over at US despite having the basement mainline contract, while the amount of E190s operated by mainline pilots has.
Besides, we know that the company asked for 82 seaters and contract continuation as an opener, but we don't have a clue what ALPA asked for as an opener other than "improvements." That's where a lot of the consternation comes from.

Depends on how much you want to work. Besides, my category is so short that rsvs fly virtually every day.
