1. State the objective and print it as the letterhead on all union communications: "Restore all Delta branded flying to Delta pilots, and lead the industry in total compensation."
2. Advise Delta management that we are a "new style" of union that will operate in a manner of: "Leading Engagement." Leading Engagement means that Delta pilots will work to continue the Delta brand leads the industry in safety and customer satisfaction. In return, Delta pilots will demand a contract that continually leads the industry in every section.
3. If, due to Delta's corporate and debt reduction, we ever find ourselves again the target of a corporate raid (ala UsAirways with Delta), the doctrine of Leading Engagement will provide every Delta pilot as a soldier to fight that raid on every front.
4. If, due to Delta's corporate success, management does not give Delta pilots the world's leading contract, the doctrine of Leading Engagement will provide every Delta pilot as a soldier to fight Delta management on every legal front. Including media ads showing management's greed against sharing profits with the pilots who literally saved the company by giving up their pensions and billions in earnings. That same message delivered via informational picketing at every Delta departure station. That same message sent to the company's creditors and bond rating agencies, etc, etc.
5. Maintain a complete and accurate record of our industry's pilot compensation levels and QOL parameters so as to maintain a reasonable margin above the rest.
6. Anytime we actually have a contract that led the industry during its length, continue to show management the benefits of the world's most qualified pilots and best defenders of the Delta brand.
Leading Engagement means that Delta pilots will be either the brand's best defenders, or management's toughest foes in every legal way possible. Leading Engagement means that Delta pilots will once again behave like a true union.

* RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)
* RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

You mean like all 76 seaters being converted to 80 seats & 82 seaters from here on out? Or less money then we actually received in this contract? Or no "unverified" sick time? Or no compensation for not meeting the 316 NRT requirement? Or returning seniority to reserve? Or dropping international SC from 24 hours to 14 hours before part 117 negotiations?
Yup. They gave up a ton on our last contract.

Why isn't that on your list of things ALPA heroically saved us from?

Hey while you are reading, check out Aulinsky's book page 37. Interesting stuff there.

After reading a few of your posts it seems to me you are a fence sitter. You are either for or against ALPA. Cat calling and a lack of loyalty to your representation will not get you to where we need to go. It's OK to question a little but at some point you have to trust those who you elected to do their best. We need a unified front if we ever want to make progress. Fall in solider and quit questioning everything. Greater minds than yours (or more knowledgeable is a better way of saying it) are working on the problems at hand 24/7.
I heard it here first. Blind trust of ALPA will get us where we need to go.
Heck, the MEC can't herd itself let alone 11000.
Winning hearts and minds. If I had even the slightest inkling that anyone in a position of leadership at DALPA was remotely as like minded as you, I would renew my DPA card right now.

A bit of advice: questioning everything is how you stay alive as a pilot. If you really are a pilot that is.
