I think most Delta pilots feel they "got f'ed" but thats not the reason the people have submitted cards...... ALPA is the reason people have submitted cards!

Pilots are smarter than that. They (my friends, all RJ guys btw) all did it because they don't trust ALPA to be out for anyone but ALPA.

I signed up after the RAH debacle.
FTB, I make business decisions on facts, not emotions. If this comes to a vote it will be the biggest business decision of your career. Anti ALPA for past sins is not a strategy to move forward and one of my problems with DPA is I see nothing in their literature that suggest they have a better way forward. The only examples I see of independent unions and thus one of my major decision points is they haven't delivered anything better than DALPA and in most cases have an inferior product. You cite outsourcing and I agree that it is the major problem we face, now tell me who will have the best chance to influence the battlefield going forward ? A national union with political clout or an independent union that only represents 11000 or so pilots. OBTW if and when that independent union garners the political support that ALPA has now the battle will be over. As far as the proliferation of Regionals go it was purely a cost/economic issue that caused the rush to and rise of the RJ's. Their demise has already started and when the majors start poaching each others regional pilots in about 3 to 5 years it is of my opinion that the flying will have to be brought back to mainline.
You are a smart guy and a much better poster than I so I don't plan on winning any web board arguments. I just ask that you take a realistic view of the present and look to your future based on facts and not rhetoric.

I hope you're right. This needs to end before openers are exchanged.

I suspect, however, that DPA will continue to beat their drum. Their power and influence is maximized by inferring that they are broadly supported by our pilot group. Whether they have that support or not will take a vote. It's time for DPA to put up or shut up.

As a rational and practical thinker I totally disagree with your statement. If pilots were happy with their situation and lot in life there would be no discord what so ever. If you had said most DL pilots feel they had been screwed and ALPA was the reason, I would still disagree with that statement but at least it would have made sense. Only DAL88 or his equivalent Purple would make sense out of what you said.

I am glad you are a rational and practical thinker so reread my post and use some of those brain cells to rationalize and think about it.

ALPA folks are promoting this as a a discord from the merger, SLI, pensions, etc. but the actual discord is with ALPA. If people were happy with ALPA's performance you wouldn't have over 5000 cards submitted. As a rational and practical thinker why do you think so many went to all the trouble to print, fill out, and mail in a card?

I stand by my statement that if people were happy there would be no discord. Edit your post the way I suggested and you will have 5000 pilots that agree with you. I was actually pulling your chain a little, I know what you meant to say.

I disagree. Many filled out cards simply to rattle a saber. Shake things up a bit. I know a lot of guys who filled out a card and don't support DPA one iota. It's not that they're unhappy with ALPA. Not to mention, no one really knows how many active cards DPA actually has. They claim to have over 5000. But it's been almost 4 years, and still no vote.
