True dat... but many of them are brandishing those green tags which I am betting comes free with selling your soul to the cause. I'm just saying, that if the DPA really wants respect, they need to earn it. Throwing it in anybody's face, particularly management's will not garner you any respect.... but then again, maybe TC doesn't care about that since he is such a badass he will get us a 73% pay raise and only work odd Thursdays....

Quick question. Is the DPA leadership ever going to call on it's ""membership" to respect the uniform at DAL or are they going to allow their "members" to continually flaunt the fact that they have no respect for it? Just asking, because I think it is an important point in earning respect that they demand.....
Terrific.

If I have to ask, what?
I don't know what it means to "respect" the uniform. I wear mine in accordance with FOM policy. Is that not enough?
Is there something more I should be doing? Should I be saluting it each time I observe it in my closet? Should it never touch the ground? Please do share your "techniques."
BTW, if you think only dyed in the wool DALPA faithful wear the uniform as prescribed by the FOM, you are sorely mistaken.

ACL65,
I have agreed with practically every post I've ever read that had your name on it...however...this is the one notable exception. I don't presume to know what the answer is, but anybody who has been in this business more than a few years KNOWS that mainline flying has been continuously eroded, year-over-year, since at least 1990. The very first exception in my memory for ANY regional/commuter airline was with A/A, that allowed for a limited number of 19 seat aircraft to "probe the market" in BNA. Next thing you know, they buy up the carrier Simmons Airlines in ORD, where they operate 36 seat Shorts, and 46 seat ATR-42s. Then it was an exception to operate the ATR-72, then along comes the jungle jet, and Canidaire regional, and now we have the 90 seaters. I reiterate, I do not know what the answer is, but it really torques me when I see significant city pairs completely, (yes, completely) handed over to ASA, Comair, etc, etc, etc. If they wanna' fly MEM-TUP, or MSP-LSE, or DFW-GSP, that's one thing. To fly DTW to Monterrey, Mexico (yes, that's our "code-share regional partner" that does/used to fly that route) that is not "regional airline flying". Our two airlines used to have a combined list of somewhere around 13,000-14,000 pilots. I know factually that the north side at one time had 5,600, you south guys can fill in the rest. I'm not advocating "try something, even if it's right" approach. But we're all aware that ALPA's approach has been an unmitigated catastrophe. Ideas? Anyone?

It's even worse than that. The North side had more like 6500 pilots at their peak. I believe the South had around 11,000 at their peak. That's over 17,000 total; There's our ten years of stagnation in a nutshell.

Just curious why you're quoting a post that's over 3 years old?

Unelected committee types (just reinstated to their position after the recall hearing) yelling at well respected pilots at PUB events is a great way to garnish support for the DPA. Sounds like the DPA got a few more cards after that display of awesomness tonight... at an event meant to promote ALPA and not the DPA!
Once again proving the point that the establishment types are the best promoter of the DPA... too bad KR's cleaning out of them out didn't stick.
