The reality is that most union drives fail their first attempt. This thing could pass, but sadly Caplinger can't help himself when it comes to stupid emails and he is hurting, if not killing, DPA's chances. He really needs to step aside.

Does it bother anyone else that they are using the battle star? I just flew with a guy with a double battle star, he wasn't really happy about the DPA just awarding themselves one because they did "battle" with ALPA. He went on strike twice risking it all. It just doesn't seem right

Small RJs might be on the decline but jumbo RJs are on the increase.

Or put another way, the uneconomical RJs that the company no longer wants are being parked and replaced by new larger more economical RJs that the company wants.

One other way to put it, we agreed to reduce the RJ fleet by 25%, but only decrease the total seating capacity by 15% which may even be made up by the fact the jumbo RJs are being flight planned to fly faster than the small RJs could fly, possibly providing more ASMs in a given year to reduce the loss in capacity.

And I don't have a reason that I can believe in that will keep that trend from continuing in the next contract.

You are correct.

I saw no indication what so ever that the DPA's position on "unity" was any different than ALPA's. What will probably be necessary is for a critical mass of former "RJ Trash" to become voting members at the mainline carriers. Most have been pretty well educated as a result of all the problems they've had on the express level.

I should hasten to add that NO ONE called a meeting on the Pinnacle breach of the Admin Manual and no one objected to the MECs unilateral finding without debate.

Meh-there are probably more Comair pilots with one than delta pilots. Doesn't mean much.

Did you ever work for a company that was represented by a union that published FPL in a manner better than the way it is done now? .
At NWA, it was published and placed on the bulletin boards in the crew bases. Later on, it became available on line.

They have 5400 members. A large number joined but have not renewed their cards. They are no where close to being able to call a election and based on the emails and people they have working for them will never get close. Its sad they can't be more honest about the number of current cards and continue to misrepresent their numbers.

Sailing,

As a strong ALPA supporter, I think your choice of words is somewhat hypocritical in light the recent Pinnacle shenanigans involving Lee Moak / ALPA National / Pinnacle's MEC Chairman.

I think their conduct is anything but aboveboard, despite DALPA denials.

Let me paraphrase what you wrote: "It's sad DALPA can't be more honest about the Pinnacle negotiations and continue(s) to misrepresent the conflict of interest that ALPA National has".
