Carl,

For fence sitters such as myself and others I fly with, the DPA(or any in house) has many concerns. The least of which is not having the resources of ALPA. That can be bought from them so I don't look at that as a major issue. Others that are of higher concern to me and others are the makeup of the known volunteers. Not sure who you are or if you are one of the named volunteers, but at least some of the ones from the NWA side(don't know anything about the South guys) are the extreme fringe to say the least. Just browsing the website does not give me much confidence just from personal interaction with and being a lurker for many years on the Nwalpa forum. I won't name specific names as that wouldn't be fair. But or all the Nwa names I know and recognize the only ones that I would trust are one of the contract volunteers (and it ain't the one that was the former S/O rep in ANC that ate all the crew meals) and the 96 hire that I believe is on the facilities committee. Most (and this includes you and some of the more vocal (dare I say whiners on the Dalpa board)) do nothing but attack and slander even when proven wrong. I don't have a problem with you calling someone out, but you better be right(I mean "you" as all DPA anti ALPA zealots) and when wrong, man up and admit it. I have not seen that ever from one of the members of your security comittee in 15+ years of lurking. He has *****ed and complained since the day he was hired and there is nothing that would make him happy. My 2 cents. Flame away.

Given what you've written below, you hardly sound like a fence sitter. You've previously described ALPA's conflict of interest as a "perceived" conflict of interest. That is directly out of the ALPA talking points.

While I totally disagree with your caricature of the current crop of volunteers, this should not concern you at all. These folks are working only to get an in-house union started. After it was voted in by the members, there would be a great deal of campaigning by anyone who wanted to hold office, and the members would decide via elections. I'm sure you'd be OK with elections right?

When I'm proven wrong, I apologize and pledge to do better. I do not respond by attacking. I'd like you to find a SINGLE post where I attacked or slandered somebody after they had proved me wrong. If you can't find that, then you've libeled me sir.

Interesting that you would write the above, then say this:

Fence sitter? Nothing in this post implies you are on the fence.

Reminds me of meeting the captain at the beginning of a trip and he starts off by telling me he is "laid back". I instantly know I'm going to get mico managed fir the 4 day trip.

Yup, NERD is a real fence sitter.
