It is not double speak, as you like to term it. I think it is advisable for us to take care of our own union's pilots before other pilots. That is in essence trade unionism. Offer them slots, guaranteed interviews, etc. My first choice is not an SLI for reasons listed. It is not a merger, or an acquisition. We own the coded flying, and they are contractors.
An SLI is NEVER a choice unless there is a corporate merger...NEVER.

Sit down, no, I mean it
I agree with you. If you think I was inferring a SLI, you are dead wrong. An agreement among MEC's and companies at most. We could go down the SLI route, but frankly I do not think it is needed nor warranted.
Doing something for fellow ALPA pilots does not mean screwing the bottom of our list. There are many ways to come to agreements that protect everyone, and Bar and I have repeatedly stated the most logical one. The reality is that, first we need to be in a position to do this type of deal, and until we recapture all narrow gauge coded flying, the issue is moot.
What I did say was that we should not fear and SLI. Category, status, pay, career expectations, etc are all in our favor. Plus I do not think one pilot has ever willingly gone from a Major to a Regional.

You truly have a terribly warped view of reality. Major pilots have always fought against us flying aircraft, any aircraft, for $18/hr. That's nothing new. Our mistake was caving in to the fear tactics of corporate destruction if we didn't allow RJ's to feed the hubs, etc. That was the first half of the outsourcing equation. The second half of the outsourcing equation was pilots like you working for the $18/hr in order to build time.
A truly warped and sick view of reality. Maybe you will be cheering, but nobody I know will be. You don't even know what it's like to be furloughed.
Bordering on mental illness.

The most important thing we can do now is ensure that the 100 seater is flown by DAL pilots. We would be STUPID to try to buy back the 76 and smaller flying. Management would gladly sell it to us in negotiations knowing all the while that they intend to eliminate most if not all of those jets for 100 seaters anyway.
Management wants the 100 seater, not 76 seats and less. Lets draw a line in the sand, finally, and make sure we fly the 100 seat airplane!

Did anyone else notice the carrot in SD's weekly update about the RFP having two components. One part of it is 100-120 seaters. As always I'll believe it's coming when I'm sitting in it. The key is to hold firm as Superdad says above.

We will. They are already scoped in. We just have to not give it up.

If we sell that seat segment because of a big promise of more jets, we get what we deserve. I could care what an agreement states, but if it sells more flying it is a NO for me.
