That's funny...PCL128 and I have been fighting for a decade on the message boards...We don't agree on many things. He paid to work for Gulfstream, then went to Pinnacle, then Air Tran...now Southwest.
That being said, he is right on this issue. I welcome the changing ideas on this issue...

The situation is just as airline managements have designed, we fight amongst ourselves. Best of luck to all.

I suspect that as we majors hold the line on scope, and the CS comes on line, the little RJ fiefdom will slowly come to an end. With it being mostly third part operators, DAL will just not renew the contracts, and these lift providers will be left with the bad.
Knowing what these contracts entail with some very strategic ending dates, if appears that the level of Third Party Operators will fall off greatly in the coming years.

Don't we have enough problems without pilots fighting against other pilots. I think management knows that they will have to figure out Plan B in regards to this type of flying. Plan A (outsourcing) will end sooner or later and it will never be expanded. Therefore, as pilots, we should all try to work together to achieve what we all want: a single seniority list with all pilots flying under the same contract. We should encourage consolidation within the DCI carriers (already well under way) and we should encourage merging them into the mainline as soon as we can.
Rather than urinating on each other, we should find ways to mutually solve the problems and achieve our common objectives.

The reality is that DCI pilots are already Delta pilots, they are just not on our list. They fly Delta aircraft, Delta passengers, and generate Delta revenue.
Tsquare and Alfa are right. Outsourcing will continue as long as there are financial benefits to it. As long as we carry a heavy debt load, the company will look for ways to off load capex. What might make outsourcing unprofitable would be attaching liability to the code, not the certificate.
Alfa is right because only through unity and strength of numbers will we gain enough clout to affect the decisions that determine our futures.
