First and Only SLI Post
Granted NERD, which is why a lot of us (me included) are tired of the just-below-the-surface re-enactment of the SLI thing. Which, btw, depending on the poster is oftentimes factually incorrect and is THE only reason why I bother to raise the BS flag. Otherwise I wouldn't and don't care.
One thing is sure, the "real senior and less than half fNWA guys that did better than pbgc" are in a much better retirement position than 100% of the fDAL guys, no matter how senior....which is why we are all tired of whatever minimally *****ing and moaning remains.

I love this Carl! Funny how ALPA is now telling us how much they are "doing for the Delta pilots" now that they have a threat on the horizon. I'm tired of throwing away money to them each year to defend RJ coalitions and protect Comair/ASA/Skywest flying at our expense.

For what its worth, I overhead a DPA rep yesterday in the DTW crew lounge, I'm guessing that's what he was as he was handing out DPA business cards and talking to pilots about it, saying that just the other day they crossed over the 1900 mark for pilots submitting cards for DPA. Seems kind of low to me.

The information on the DPA site gave a stat that if each current member encouraged three other pilots to join, they would have the number of cardholders to force a vote within seven days.
From what I can tell they started out kind of slow but have started gaining momentum in the last month or so.
I'm all for it, but so many pilots buy into the ALPA rhetoric that they've had 80 + years to perfect. Lets hope more people are able to think "outside the box" like we have to do in the cockpit at work to get the big picture.

Their actual support is probably significantly less than 1,900. I've heard from reliable sources that several pilots have asked that DPA return their cards, but the unelected regime at DPA refuses.
Dersperation I guess.
Overall, DPA has failed, however, it's no surprise that non trade unionist at DPA would fail at union organizing.

This is not and SLI issue. It was a BK issue. It was decided prior to the SLI. The North retirement, or lack thereof, was decided in BK. The South retirement, or lack thereof, was decided in BK. Both sides were brought in place to the SLI. I don't have a retirement, so I really don't have a dog in the fight, but IMHO there shouldn't be any *****ing and moaning from either side of the SLI since it is a BK issue.
Everyone is getting what they brought to the merger, pension wise. And EVERYONE received identical increases during the JCBA. Well, that's not quite true... the North guys DC has to be brought up to match the S guys, since they were lower at the time of the merger. That will happen at the end of next year.

And the DPAnoid didn't stand his ground? Didn't challenge the chief pilot? Kind of wimpy to not even challenge the chief pilot and turn tail and run.

It shows their card progress since they began publishing data. The red line is what they need to get by 6/1/11 to have 50%+1. The blue line is their current trend. Not sure that qualifies as "gaining momentum".
