Default Does this sound familiar?

The words of Hermann Goring (Hitler's Reichmarshall) who was sentenced to death in 1946 for crimes against humanity.

Notoriously, he observed:

Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the peiple along whether it's a democracy, a facist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship....Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists ( or dissenters in the case of ALPA) for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger. It works the same way in any country.

Now, does this ring familiar to any of you. Remember one thing and one thing only .... THINK CRITICALLY.

Send it in anyway. You can always vote for ALPA if it ever comes to a vote. We're stuck with status quo unless enough cards get sent in for a vote.

Send it in. As Hockey said, you can make your decision when the vote comes.

We do?? Then who do I need to contact, because I got no ballot re: ALPA national president? WHassat? A representative election you say? Oh... OK.. my bad... Then the good ole boys' club of which I have been speaking has been formed by us 12,000 "good ole boys" then... thanks for the clarification.

Despite the fact that he's ill-suited to be ALPA President, there's no doubt in my mind that he's a true trade unionist. He'll either go back to the line, or he'll find some way to continue working to benefit labor.

A six pack says he gets a gubbamint job.. and it won't be on the side of labor. But he will gladly cash those retirement checks that our dues pay.... and laugh while he does so.

OK.... Give me a bullet list of why we need national then. Just five or six points will do. And they must be things that cannot be obtained on the open market.

Au contrare! I've posted at least 3 times on this thread that ALPA is very clearly a flawed organization, and has made numerous mistakes.

All organizations do. I think it's unavoidable.

It's seems so simple - Get mad...oversimplify the situation and the solution...support "something new!". Replace one flawed organization with another flawed organization, but make sure the process divides the group.

Recognize it or not, that's where we are.

Heyas,

They are in the midst of another mistake with this TSA issue.

Making mistakes is something we all do. But the leadership/LEC reps better start doing some error management if they want to regain the faith of the pilot group.

It's one thing to lose to a group of very well respected pilot leaders with a clear, concise vision on how to lead this pilot group, with the personal experience to back it up.

It's quite another to lose to a vaporware organiztion with no clear agenda simply because "it's not ALPA".

And that's precisely where they are heading if my unscientific, ancedotal evidence is remotely correct.

Are we really giving anything up if we give up alpa?

I dont see it. I want to see it, I hope for better, I just don't see it.
