There's a world of difference between 7+55 and 8+55. And hotel rooms in NY are a minimum of $120/night...

A Delta pilot based in ATL told a friend of mine that DPA was a threat to ALPA to get our own guy in charge of ALPA national. He said that now Moak's in, there is no chance of de-certification. I get the feeling that ATL based pilots have no interest in de-certifying ALPA. This is going to kill it alone.

well considering a huge amount of pilots on here are ATL based... that's one guy's opinion...

Maybe you are right. But for the sake of arguement, what possible advantage for DL pilots will come from Moak at ALPA national now? Will he refuse to sign off on another scope sale? Cause that would be helpful. Other than that, what implied super secret agenda will he carry out that Prater, Rice or whoever else would have done differently that will specifically help the DL pilots more?

I don't see any advantage to Moak being national president. Now we just have to convince our fellow colleagues this.

The DPA message ("message", because there is no plan) is based on assumptions.

Emotional pilots will buy into it. Anger is a powerful thing. Thinking pilots will recognize the pig-in-a-poke basis of DPA's "plan" and opt for imperfect, but repairable representation and services from ALPA.

Of course you don't.

You have to know what you're looking for, first.

Prater's biggest failing was his handling of the USAirways-American West merger. Moak's biggest success was his handling of the Northwest-Delta merger. You can dismiss the leadership differences, and spend your time finding fault, but fortunately, there was someone who got the job done despite your superior plan for success.

Just look at their respective track records. One works behind the scenes quietly engaging the appropriate parties to bring value. The other??? Thumps his chest while shouting his motto "We're taking it back". After four years, did we get it back?
