Classic. Switch the argument to DPA. That is NOT what I am talking about, and you KNOW it. I am talking about the graft in alpa national. The only thing is that the graft is legitimate because it is sanctioned by some "committee". The reason that the solution is not as obvious as it appears from the sidelines is because there are too many intimate people involved. It's politics Einstein. Why don't they let the membership vote on national's compensation? That would scare the absolute dog squeeze out of them because they know where that would go... so they insulate themselves by using "committees" which by pure nature will vote the easy way out. A simple majority keeps the pork flowing to their bank accounts. Sickening. Like Yoda said. "There is no try". Nobody at national gives a tinker's damn what the membership thinks as long as the money flows.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think it was about a $45K reduction. I didn't see the final resolution, so it may be different, but that's what passed through committee for the BOD vote

That's nice political speak too. You can now say that you "hope" things will change at national, and nobody will ever be able to call you on it because.. well.. you "hope" things will get better. What many of us are sick of is the pork that flows into national with no remedy. So I'll put it to you.. what can really be done to fix it. (An please spare me the usual drivel about getting involved and all that bullsqueeze), because you know as well as I that I could not change anything because I am not in the club... even if I were to be elected to something.

That doesn't even account for half of the housing allowance. Pathetic

I have not read it, but that just may be on base pay T. I am sure it will be out and public shortly if it is not on the ALPA site.

I do not believe progress is being made. I think it's actually getting worse. Sometimes it's easier to just start over from scratch than fix what you already have. Some things are just not fixable and I believe ALPA national falls into this category. Once Delta, United, and Airtran leave, it will be representing strictly regionals. My card is in the mail. I dropped it in a few days ago. Moak becoming the national president and ALPA supporting exemptions to the 1500 hour limit to be an airline pilot are the current issues that sent me over the edge.

So what? Then it is a done deal. I wonder how big a townhouse that $7K will buy in Georgetown? I hear there will be several on the market after the first week of November. Maybe he can get a deal. Who am I kidding? Why not pay full price when WE are paying the bills?

Nope. Some of us are actively working to fix some of the problems. Others lament about bullsqueeze and drivel and support an "independent" union, an idea that hasn't worked since deregulation. What was that about a lobotomy earlier?
