Default DAL at FLTOPS AUG job fair in ATL

I have a buddy going to the job fair in ATL and I was curious what prep he should do before going? Is there anything I can do for him as a DAL pilot? He has filled out the online app and has 4 internal recs. What more can he do? Is the job fair worth going to? Will it get his resume further up the stack?

Thoughts, ideas....

Seeing as how hiring currently isn't taking place, are they still planning on being there? And if so, will they still seriously be looking at people or just there in some kind of informational nature?

That's exactly what happened last time in Chicago.. Everybody was suited up and ready, and they wern't even taking anybody's resume.. it pretty much was a total waste of time and money..

I saw go, put on your A game and be prepared as it was your interview day. Anything less and you are jeopardizing your chances with DAL.

As for it being a waste, don't go then. It give the guys and gals that really want to be here more face time.

I say it's a waste of time and money. If it were free to enter, perhaps.. but even then, the standard phrase is " GO TO AIRLINE APPS.COM AND FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. that is also a big scam. Even the people at Colgan Air is sending you to that site for an application, again they want more money. These folks are getting rich from unemployed Pilots desperate for work.. IT IS REALLY SHAMEFUL what these people are doing. PAY TO GET AN INTERVIEW, PAY TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, PAY PAY PAY/.......

You do not have to pay at Airapps if you only target one airline. It is the convenience of targeting all of the airlines that use the service that costs money.

Also if a DAL job is not worth a Franklin, again do not go and allow more face time to those who are willing.
This is about face time. I know if DAL is where I wanted to be, I would see the entry fee as a small price to pay.

Just my .02

(FWIW, I have had many friends hire from this type of face time. It is worth it)

You can fill out as many airline apps as you want, and do all of them for free. It only costs money if you want to fill out ONE application for ALL airlines to see. Your choice.

Not sure how beneficial Fltops thing will be, but in this industry, and in these economic times, it is sometimes necessary to provide yourself an edge. This might be it!

Good luck!

Worst case scenario you go nothing happens and it feels like a waste of money. Worst thing.
Second worst thing is you get some face time with the principles that DO hiring; Learn the questions they ask, their measure, and get some prep that no course can offer.
Next would be you making a horrible impression by not having a well written resume, or coming off unprofessional or unprepared.
Next would be you getting decent face time that gets you put in a short stack.
Lastly, it gets you an invite.

Truly it is up to you. I would go even if the it was a Hail Mary. Why? because, it this world networking is king. There are never any promises.
BTW go to DAL last.
