AA Recall Rumor
#141
The last displacement list posted was for OCT1. It appears the OCT list is for 80s to 73s. I believe the company will hold out till 2011 for recalls, however with no 80s going to the desert, 80s manning low, lower YTD fall schedule reduction, and moving guys/gals out of the 80 will make the QOL for those in certain bid status' low.

The displacement message was way lower than I thought... mostly from the 80 to the 737 and of course the 777 fall-offs in DFW/ORD and BOS on its widebody shrinking plan. During the fall, displacements are pretty common as the flying gets drawn down.
The company is quite short on pilots, that much is known. It's been confirmed everywhere. It's just a matter of time before recalls begin, most likely by early/mid 2011.

So how many RJ's does SWA operate? Apples-to-oranges, right? Reading Flagship News, you wouldn't think so, since G.A. & crew seem to think SWA is a direct domestic rival. AMR needs to start thinking outside "the box". I would think APA would bargain on work rules to recapture SCOPE.

I'm really not trying to argue with you, I just think there ARE alternatives to doing business as usual. You CAN have a well compensated, generally happy employee group and still compete and grow...AMR just has to have the cojones to do it. (doubt it...FURP)

Current active pilots are 7726. The company's 1 Nov forecast is 7639 active pilots.and that holds steady through their 1 Jan forecast.

If I had the time I would try to figure how short they will be this fall with the long haul flights they added. From what I have heard they are pulling the 777's from some short routes for the new flying that is coming this fall. Even a one for one swap would probably mean they need another 75 pilots to staff each new long haul route.
