Whats up with the training database the bill talks about setting up? Are they going to set a cap on failed events? I know a couple guys who have busted a few PCs over the years I've been at a regional, so now they are stuck in the regional ranks forever or risk even getting booted? I'm all for setting up a program that prevents guys with 5+ failures from airline cockpits, but if you've been flying for 10 years and had a few bad days in training when you first started, I think you should be allowed a chance to move on someday.

Gee man, nothing like paying your dues. We all had to do it, or something similar. If you don't pay your dues now, you will be paying them for the rest of your career. That seems to be the problem with the industry. Everyone wants to become a professional pilot right out of school without any sort of sacrifice or compromise.

Remember, the choices pilots make, effect all pilots industry wide. If you don't want to pay your dues now, you will pay them later along with every one else. So do us all a favor and suck it up for a while. Thanks in advance.

Alright the whole "paying your dues" thing has got to stop... Its not as easy as going to flight instruct for a year to get your time up... I instructed full time for 2 and a half years and was only able to get up to 820something. You cannot live on that little money especially when you have a family, and if you think its possible, you are an idiot. This rule is just making things a lot harder for us, and for the airlines and its going to be extremely detrimental to the amount of people who want to train to be professional pilots. There is already a huge void in the number of students because of the economy, and now even less will want to start because its that much harder to get there.

I am not saying overall this bill wont be helpful to the career, but dont spout off saying its as easy as going and instructing for a year because we all know thats crap in this economy...

If you think that flight instructing is the only way to obtain experience so that you become a safer, more confident pilot that is flying my family and friends around then you might want to read up a little on the career. There are many ways to get there and if you cannot find a way (AKA just not motivated enough to do the right thing) well maybe being a pilot is not for you.

How many truly successful people in this world have told you that reaching your goals and becoming someone that is something to be proud of was a peace of cake and you could just buy your way there? With great reward comes great responsibility and to become a responsible individual you kind of have to gain experience the old fashion way. That is until we figure out how they did it in the Matrix.

I'm truly sorry that it's not going to be easy for you like was for some people that had lots of money to buy the job. But hey, they were just entitled to it

Just just call it practice for your furlough later in your career.

Then don't do it. Sometimes you have work for what you want. I actually made more money as a CFI than I do as an FO on 4th year pay. Why? Because I gave up everything I knew, moved to a place I didn't want to go, and worked myself to the bone. I could never do it again but I did it, made money doing it, and learned a great deal. I don't think there's anything wrong with this bill at all.

I agree! I went through the same thing, had to move and leave home. I dont even have 1500 yet and im not complaining, you have to put in your dues.

But it has its own sacrifices.
